"Every storm in your life is followed by a rainbow"

Mayor's Corner
You may be wondering why your neighbors have a boat, a fifth wheel or a motor home in their driveways. The City and POA are preparing to resurface the boat and trailer storage area and to improve the water treatment plant dams, with the assistance of Burnet County.   Obviously, the storage area has to be cleared in order to smooth it out and pave it, so residents are being asked to relocate their boats, etc. during that process. To facilitate matters, the rules limiting how many days they can be in a driveway are on hold until the project is completed - in a couple of weeks, if the weather cooperates.

Time is running out to purchase a beautiful paver to honor our veterans. Come by City Hall to provide the veterans' names and beginning and ending years of service - the cost is just $29.50 per individual 8" x 8" x 2" paver.
I have said it before, but it is very important to register your pets at City Hall. The little dog I found recently was lucky enough to have a Meadowlakes tag on its collar, and the office was open, so all I had to do was call and get owner's info to reunite them. Another dog that was running loose on Olympia Fields and then Columbine was not so lucky...it had no collar, which made it impossible to catch. I hope she safely made her way home...

Lots going on in Marble Falls this coming weekend. Their Spring Citywide Garage Sale will be this Saturday in Johnson Park (so traffic will be moving very slowly and there will be lots of pedestrians in that area) plus the 10th annual Marble Falls Paint the Town "Plein Air" competition will be based at the Lakeside Pavilion (March 30-April 2nd). You'll see 50 artists painting at sites on Main Street, along the waterfront and throughout the area. Go to www.hlcarts.com for more info.

Wildflowers are spectacular this year - and they should still be fine for the 33rd annual Bluebonnet Festival, based up the road a piece in Burnet. It will be the following weekend (April 8-10). For more information, go to www.bluebonnetfestival.org. In the meantime, one of my favorite really nice drives that take just an hour or two: Go north on 281 toward Burnet and turn left on Park Road 4. Follow it all the way to 2341 and turn left to head toward Kingsland or right to continue of Park Road 4 past Inks Lake to Hwy 29. In either direction, there are good places to stop and take photos along the way.

RV Storage

The POA will be resurfacing the RV Storage area. All items must be removed by
Friday, April 1
During the period of time in which the RV storage is being paved:

  • Temporary parking of RV, boats and trailers will be allowed in individual driveways during construction time.
  • Larger motor homes can park at the golf course maintenance yard as space permits.
  • No parking on streets will be permitted.

City Installs Life Saving AED's

The City of Meadowlakes is proud to announce the recent purchase and placement of three Automatic External defibrillators (AED's) within the City. One AED has been placed at City Hall, one in the restaurant and one in the pro shop. On Monday sixteen employee of the City took an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED class. Taking the class were employee from the restaurant, pro shop, City Hall and Utility field personnel.
According to the American Heart Association sudden cardiac arrest if one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. Over 350,000 people in the U.S. will suffer from sudden cardiac arrest this year. It can be anyone, anytime and at any age. When cardiac arrest occurs, the fact is that only about half of the victims will need a shock. But nearly all will required cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). An AED along with proper CPR is only effective treatment for restoring a regular heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest. The deployment of an AED along with CPR strengthens the Chain of Survival. When a person suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, their change of survival decreases by 10% for each minute that time passes without defibrillation. Time is of essences since average response time for first responders once a 911 call is received is 8-12 minutes. No doubt AED's saves lives.
