MAYORS CORNER
 Greetings!
When the storms hit this past Friday evening, we were at the Meadowlakes Restaurant having dinner. First the rain - that was okay because I needed a car wash - then the hail, and I didn't really worry about that because I knew I was NOT going to rush out to try to drive home to get the car into the garage. Besides, it is a 2007 model, so I was more concerned about my daughter's much newer car that was sitting in my driveway. As it turned out, the hail wasn't big enough or hard enough to cause either of us any damage. And as best I can tell, my roof and flower beds survived without damage. I hope that was true for everyone!
I was a bit worried when the run-off topped the curb as the flow down Olympia Fields turned left at Columbine to get to Deer Lick on its way to the lake. The big blue trash cans at our Lakeside Park were not so lucky...they apparently were swept down the boat ramp and are now somewhere downstream.
The rains have delayed the tennis court resurfacing project. I am now learning that there are avid pickle ball players in the area who are looking forward to our new pickle ball courts. I'm told it is loads of fun for all ages.
I hope the weather forecasters are wrong about their forecast for Sunday and that their projected rains don't hinder area Easter Services or interfere with the Easter Egg hunt in our Children's Park on Mahan at Chaparral Easter afternoon.
Happy Easter!
Mary Ann Raesener,
Mayor

At the POA Meeting that was held on February 16th,
the Board voted to start a program that allows members of the Association to honor one or more family members who currently serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces
by placing a Memorial Brick in designated sections of the Park.
The 8"x 8"x 21/4" Bricks will have the Honoree Name, Branch of Service, its Motto and Duration served as shown below. Colors may be as shown or slightly different to provide contrast for the final design.
Actual cost of each brick is $29.50 each, payable in advance. Shipping is free in quantities of 10 or more and the POA will bear the associated installation cost. The program will run in phases through December 2016 or longer but we encourage your early participation. We plan to set the first batch by Memorial Day
May 30, 2016. I intend to buy several myself.
Should you wish to participate, see Debbie Holley at the POA office, 177 Broadmoor St, with the necessary information and $29.50 cash or check for each Brick you wish placed in the park.
The POA looks forward to and thanks you for your participation in advance.
Joe Summers, POA President
