"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new."

~ Socrates
MAYOR'S CORNER
Greetings!

A neighbor advised yesterday that if cars are parked such that the mail truck cannot pull directly up to a mailbox, the mail for that box will not be delivered that day. The driver is not supposed to get out of the truck in order to deliver mail. I'll try to confirm this change, but in the meantime, you may want to be sure access to your mailbox is clear.
I love that this neighborhood is pet friendly. We get to know each other as we walk our dogs. The vast majority of dog owners are good citizens who pick up after their dogs and take the bags either to their home trash or to a trash bin in the park; however, some who do remember to take plastic bags apparently do NOT wish to carry the bag to an appropriate disposal location...it is absolutely NOT acceptable to deposit the bags in your neighbor's flower beds!
At the Marble Falls City Council meeting (Tuesday, Jan. 5th), the Council approved having a farmers market every Saturday morning in the "Falls Creek Park" - Avenue J at Buena Vista. They also approved a significant increase in fees, especially for non-residents, to use the Lakeside Pavilion or the new meeting facility in the park on Second Street. After a detailed presentation by the Marble Falls Director of Development Services, the Council approved a preliminary construction plat for the new Panther Hollow Subdivision, which will be composed of multiple apartment buildings just south and west of the La Ventana area. It will include a hike and bike trail that will be available to the public. There was no mention of when construction might start.

AVENUE N DETOUR PLAN

The City of Marble Falls will be starting much needed improvements to a section of Avenue N between Broadway and FM1431. This will be scheduled from February 2016 through July 2016. Improvements will include rerouting that section to a new intersection at Bluebonnet and FM1431. During the 6 month construction period, northbound traffic will be detoured to Avenue L and Avenue Q. Below is a map of the future construction that will be taking place. You can also visit this link to get more information from the City of Marble Falls

MILITARY MEMORIAL MONUMENT
memorial_day.jpg

The Meadowlakes POA is in process of setting up the Military Memorial Monument. You will notice as you enter into Meadowlakes on the left side of Meadowlakes Dr. The memorial monument will be a granite stone monolith from our area, and bronze plaques commemorating the five military services, with bronze inscription so they will always be legible on the stone. In response to several residents offers to help, we have created an account for donations to the memorial. If you wish to donate to the memorial, please come by the City Hall. Any of the young ladies in the office can accept donations and provide you with a receipt of donation. We are working to control the costs of the memorial and the landscaping, any donations will help. If you have any questions please contact James Woods at jrwpdw@nctv.com
