MAYOR'S CORNER
Greetings!

Just nine days until Christmas - I hope your shopping is done! And you just have three more days to finish decorating before the POA judges make the rounds to select the winners of this year's POA Holiday Lighting Contest (Friday evening). The judges will have their work cut out for them! I drove around the whole neighborhood last night, and the Christmas spirit is HERE! WOW! When you turn the corner onto Columbine from Meadowlakes Drive, the view is amazing! But that is certainly not the only beautifully lit area - it's just the one I see every day. Be careful, though - there are usually walkers on our streets at all hours.
I also attended the POA meeting last night. Due to the resignation of Gerry Fair, the POA Board unanimously voted to reappoint Dottie Stueckroth to the Board. We are ALL grateful for Dottie's willingness to serve. Gerry Mason reported that the Pecan Valley fence line has been cleaned, and repairs to the fence are in progress. He also said the project to seal cracks in the streets is ongoing, especially on Turkey Run and Meadowlakes Drive. Len Fate, who is responsible for the Meadowlakes Gate area, announced that longtime head guard Bill Grant died a few days ago and his funeral will be held this Friday, December 18th, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church.
The Texas Department of State Health Services performed a routine analysis of our water on water collected November 23, 2015. We passed with flying colors!

HIDDEN FALLS GOLF CLUB NEWS

 Saturday, December 19th
2nd annual Feed The Hungry Golf Classic
Due to all the rain, the golf tournament had to be rescheduled. Please make an effort to come out to Hidden Falls Golf Club to support the Marble Falls Mission. This is the one large benefit they do once a year to bring in money to support the Mission. If you do not play golf, we have raffle tickets for $10.00 and many silent auction items as well. Come join in the fun! We will be in need of volunteers the entire day. Schedules will start at 9:30A.M. at the club and run through out the day. They will also need people at the church to help set up, serve and clean up after. If you are only available for a short time that is great too, any little bit helps! For more information please contact Jeanine Osborne at (512) 914-0002

Did you know that there are clubs, groups and leagues that have special events going on daily at the club?

BULK LEAF PICKUP
yellow-leaves-tree.jpg
The City of Meadowlakes is very fortunate to have several hundred mature pecan trees, however these beautiful trees produce extremely large volume of leaf foliage every fall. In the past the only method available for disposal of the foliage was either to mulch it during mowing or by raking and bagging the leaves for pickup by the City's solid waste contractor.
The City is proud to announce that we are now offering three bulk leaf pickups in the coming months.
You will find attached, a "Leaf Collection" brochure explaining the collection program in more detail. If you have any questions regarding this program please feel free to contact the Public Works Department at 830-693-2951 between the hours of 8:00A.M. and 4:00P.M. Monday through Friday.

TRASH, RECYCLE, BULK

If you need a recycle bin call Republic Services at (830) 693-3513 or City Hall (830) 693-2951

MILITARY MEMORIAL MONUMENT
repotting-flowers.jpg
The Meadowlakes POA is in process of setting up the Military Memorial Monument. You will notice as you enter into Meadowlakes on the left side of Meadowlakes Dr. The memorial monument will be a granite stone monolith from our area, and bronze plaques commemorating the five military services, with bronze inscription so they will always be legible on the stone. In response to several residents offers to help, we have created an account for donations to the memorial. If you wish to donate to the memorial, please come by the City Hall. Any of the young ladies in the office can accept donations and provide you with a receipt of donation. We are working to control the costs of the memorial and the landscaping, any donations will help. If you have any questions please contact James Woods at jrwpdw@nctv.com
