MAYOR'S CORNER
Greetings!

FLU SHOTS! It is almost that time of year again...and once again, the City of Meadowlakes has arranged with HEB to hold a flu shot clinic here in Meadowlakes at City Hall so you don't even have to leave the neighborhood to get protected! More details will follow, but put the date and time on your calendar now, unless you plan to get your shot elsewhere: Thursday, October 1st - from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Bring a copy of your current insurance cards.

I try to attend Building Committee meetings whenever possible so I'll have a better idea about what is going on in our community. At the September 14th meeting, in addition to reviewing requests for 3 new fences, 1 remodel, 1 deck and driveway, and 1 boat dock reconstruction, this hard working group reviewed the current status of eleven (11) "ongoing new construction" projects and nine (9) "ongoing remodel" projects. This is a very busy and dedicated group that works hard to make sure all requirements are met - in order to preserve the value - and safety - of our community. We owe them a debt of gratitude!

Because Meadowlakes has a ranch on its west side and a lake on its south side, we sometimes are exposed to more nature than we might want to see up close and personal - in the form of skunks, foxes, deer - and snakes. At least 3 copperheads (that I know of) have been reported and removed recently, so be careful before you start to pull weeds or reach into your flower beds. One of those copperheads was lazing in a driveway near Olympia Fields and Muirfield.

A NOTE FROM THE CITY SECRETARY

Dear Meadowlakes Residents and friends,

It is bittersweet to write my last column for this newsletter and to say goodbye to this community, but new opportunities have called and I will be moving to Lometa, TX. It has been my privilege to work for the City of Meadowlakes.

During my time working here, I have met so many wonderful people and friends.  I will miss all of you and my coworkers. My coworkers have become my good friends and I will miss them greatly as they are the best people to work with.  My replacement, Loren Meiner, is a familiar face to most of you as she was the Utility Billing Clerk here at the City.  Loren's replacement in Utility Billing will be Evan Cutchin, who has filled in to help us out before and is our Bookkeeper/POA Assistant Debbie Holley's step-daughter.  Evan will become a permanent full-time employee for the City.  If you haven't met these ladies yet, please come by and introduce yourself.

Regards,

Christy Fath

The City of Meadowlakes is pleased to announce our participation in the new Regional Notification System (RNS) in partnership with the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG).  This system will allow the City to send notifications via text, email and/or phone of both emergency and non-emergency situations that may affect Meadowlakes residents.

City leaders encourage you to register all your phone numbers and emails so you don't miss out on any important information.  Go to http://wireless.capcog.org and click on Register New or Update Existing Contact Information; it only takes about 10 minutes.  If you receive an error message when registering, please close your internet browser, wait a few minutes and try again.   If you need help registering, don't have a computer or have questions, please call or email Debbie Carter at the office, 830-693-6840 or [email protected].
