"A simple life is good with me. I don't need a whole lot. For me, a T-shirt, a pair of shorts, barefoot on a beach and I'm happy."

UPCOMING ROAD REPAIRS
| | Repairs to the inbound and outbound lanes at the Security Gate will be under construction for the next few weeks. This work will require occasional lane closures during working hours but all lanes will be open at the end of the work day. You may experience some delays but please be assured we will be taking every effort to minimize such delays and we ask for your patience.
It is anticipated that all work will be completed by the end of August. We thank you for your patience.

MAYOR'S CORNER
| | Greetings!
Work really is in progress at the Hidden Falls Restaurant, but replacing the main dining room flooring won't even start until August 21st at the earliest. We are hoping against hope that everything is finished by the end of August...but no promises can be made! In the meantime, great food and drink continue to be available as usual in the bar area and on the patio - and smaller meetings and card groups continue as usual in the Pecan Room just inside the newly installed front door. The Pro Shop is not affected by these changes. Even this crazy heat doesn't seem to keep the golfers away. It was 108 in my car inside my garage when I left around 4:00 PM to go to the City Council meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Since we've had cloudless and moonless skies at night, you may be able to see the Perseid meteor shower late Wednesday evening (tonight) and very early Thursday morning. The fact that there will be a "new" moon means the skies will be darker than usual, making the meteors more visible than usual. Luckily, we don't have as much man-made light in Meadowlakes to compete with the meteors that are shed by the Swift-Tuttle comet - which only passes by us once every 133 years. Might be worth setting an alarm to remind you (and the kids) to get up and go outside in the middle of the night! I live in the pecan orchard, so I think I'll go back to the fifth green behind my house - which was also a great place to see Fourth of July fireworks!
