MAYOR'S CORNER
Greetings!

If you are reading this Newsletter, then you have already provided the City with your e-mail address. If the City Directory shows your phone number, along with your name and address, you have already provided the City with your phone number and authorized its being shown in the phone book. Updated directories are available at City Hall for just $3.00.

I'm not sure when the rules changed, but a phone number can no longer be in the directory unless the resident specifically okays it. I discovered there are residents who do not know their phone number isn't listed now, even though they want it to be in the directory. (I'm glad I still have my 2009 directory so I can find the info for long-time residents.) Please let your friends and neighbors know so they can contact the City if they want their phone number to be listed...and let them know about the availability of the weekly newsletter to all who provide their e-mail addresses to the City.

On Tuesday, July 21st, I went to the first regular meeting of the new Pedernales Electric Coop (PEC) Board of Directors. The meetings start at 10:00 AM, and this one still wasn't over when I had to leave shortly before 5:00 PM. It was reported that PEC had $271,000 in damages resulting from the Memorial Day storms, and FEMA will cover 75%. Also discussed was the new "operations office" that will be built in Marble Falls to replace the temporary building that had to be installed due to mold in the old facility. The new building will be farther north - at HWY 281 and Resource Pkwy - and construction won't start until layout and plans are finalized.

Tuesday evening, the POA's regular monthly meeting drew a good crowd (including me). The POA's budget year starts September 1st, a month before the City's fiscal year, so they are finalizing the POA's plans for FY 2016. If you are interested in serving on the POA's Board, NOW is the time to submit an application. Contact info is posted at the gate as you are leaving Meadowlakes. The POA Board positions require hands-on work by each member. Right now, individuals serve in the following positions: (1) President, (2) Secretary, (3) Treasurer, (4) the Gate, (5) Streets and Parks, (6) Storage Area (boats & motor homes), and (7) Community Events (parades, holiday decorations, etc.). Two positions are up this year. Applications must be submitted before August 1st - or you can submit a petition signed by 10 members no later than 60 days before the Annual Meeting on October 10, 2015 - or nominations will be taken from the floor during that meeting.

POA BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED

The POA is already getting ready for the Annual Meeting, Saturday, October 10th. There are two positions available on the board. There are three ways to place your name on the ballot.

1.) Submit your name to the nominating committee by August 1st. This committee is Bob Brown, Marie Hammond, and Patti Wray.

2.) Submit a petition, signed by at least 10 members in good standing, to the POA secretary by August 21st.

3.) Nominate a person from the floor at the Annual Meeting provided that person has agreed to be nominated.

Thank you for your interest and please consider serving on the POA board.

GOLF CART REGULATIONS

The City has received lots complaints of unlicensed drivers operating golf carts.  Remember that in order to operate a golf cart you must be a licensed driver or be accompanied by a licensed driver.  Please click here to see the ordinance.

Also, don't forget that your golf cart must be registered at the City office in order to operate it on the city streets.

We appreciate your cooperation on these matters.
