MAYOR'S CORNER
Greetings!

What a great Fourth of July Parade! Super job, POA! Jerrial Wafer is the POA Board Member in charge of events, and once again, a good time was had by all! My daughter and I walked to the Hidden Falls parking lot to enjoy the excitement during the line-up. At least 20 golf carts joined by lots of bicycles, miniature cars, motor scooters - and walkers - all beautifully decorated. And this year, I didn't see any wipe-outs as the little bikes came down the hill on Meadowlakes Drive and turned into the park. Meadowlakes Residents are blessed!

The Council will have a workshop next Tuesday (July 14) before our regular meeting. The budget will be a bit more complicated this year as we roll the Hidden Falls piece back into the regular City Budget. The City bought the golf course in 2008 to be sure we always have a place to dispose of our treated wastewater. The alternatives would be much more expensive - we would have to either upgrade the water plant so that the water is fit to drink (at a cost of millions), or pay to have the partially treated water hauled off. The golf course is a "win-win" in that the City uses its own water to keep the course green, even in the worst summers. Our property values are greatly enhanced by having the Hidden Falls complex available for our citizens.

Lately, Meadowlakes homes are selling in less than a week - sometimes in a day without the buyer even setting foot in the home! There are several new homes under construction now - and we may be "built out" before we know it. Still, we have that desirable small town feel, with shopping and restaurants within a mile of our gate. We know our neighbors, and it is safe to walk on our streets - so long as everyone observes the speed limits!

Have a great week!
