MAYOR'S CORNER
| | Greetings!
Summertime - great time to go for a ride around the neighborhood in a golf cart! However, there must always be a licensed driver in the golf cart when it is operating on city streets. Kids love to drive the golf carts, and it is a good way for them to learn to drive, but a licensed adult driver must always be sitting beside the under-aged driver. Also, it is against the rules for anyone to be standing up while the cart is moving. These rules always apply. The Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is our wonderfully reliable source of electricity. PEC treats its customers like shareholders in that every year we get to vote in their annual Board of Directors election. Those who are elected serve 3-year terms, with a limit of three consecutive terms for any individual. Three positions are up for election this year - Districts 1, 6 and 7. Meadowlakes is in District 1, but this is not like political races where you can only vote for the person who represents your geographic area. We get one vote per household in each of the three races. The last chance for early voting is this Friday, June 12th, by midnight. If you received a ballot by mail and tossed it out, you can still vote on-line. Call the PEC Election service at 866-909-3549, through Friday from 8:00-5:00, and a new ballot will be sent to you via e-mail, along with an election ID, password and instructions on how to submit your vote electronically. Board candidate information is available on both the online ballot and the mailed ballot. The last chance to vote will be at the PEC Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 20th. This year, the meeting is being held in the South Performing Arts Center at Cedar Park High School which is located at 2150 Cypress Creek Road. In person voting and registration to win door prizes is from 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM. The business meeting will begin at 10:30 AM, and election results and door prize winners will be announced. You must be present to win. This year, the door prizes include: a Home theater package, an Energy-efficient smart TV, a Touch-screen laptop, and five (5) $100 gift cards.

TREE OVERHANG
| | Meadowlakes City Ordinance requires that tree and vegetation overhang over streets shall be controlled so as to maintain a clear corridor for vehicular traffic. Trees and vegetation shall be maintained by said owner in such a manner is to provide a clear and unobstructed corridor for vehicular traffic. Tree overhang over the streets must not be less than 14 feet. If your tree overhang is less than the required 14 feet, please trim limbs as required.
Our Ordinance Enforcement will be out measuring trees, so please make sure your trees are in compliance to avoid any citations and fines. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

GOLF CART REGULATIONS
| | With summer coming near and children will be becoming more active around the City, we would like to remind you about the ordinances regulating the operation and use of golf carts. We have received lots complaints of unlicensed drivers operating golf carts throughout the year. Please click here to see the ordinance. |
REMODELING PROJECTS
| | Before starting a remodeling project or having a roll-off dumpster placed on property, please submit a scope of work to the City Secretary, Christy Fath, at City Hall, for review in determining if a building permit is going to be needed or not. A lot of projects end up being more involved than first anticipated, so it's always best to check to see if you need a permit before starting a project to avoid any citations and fines. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

WEBWORM CONTROL COOP UPDATE
| | Meadowlakes Webworm Control Coop - Update A few webworm "webs" are already starting to appear in trees on Meadowlakes Drive and San Saba Street. Spotting webs in May is unusually early based on recent years' experience in Meadowlakes. The Coop will continue close monitoring of this development and will keep property owners updated using the email addresses you supplied. For those yet to supply an email addresses; email me and I will include you in all future updates. The Coop has incorporated all property owner payments as a result of receipts collected from the April billing cycle. These receipts coupled with prior year carryover credits result in 336 out of the 413 total properties with pecan trees being funded for the first spray of the webworm season. There are however, 77 properties that are not funded as of this date. For property owners who have yet to decide to participate in the upcoming spray, there is still time; so please return you letters with payment and you will be included in the upcoming spray. The recent "wetter" than normal weather is very conducive to increased webworm infestations. The Coop encourages all who have pecan trees to participate in the spray program. Call or email me if you have questions. John Aaron Coop President 830-693-1110 jwaaron@nctv.com |
