MAYOR'S CORNER
Greetings!

The City Council held a special Called Meeting on Saturday afternoon, April 25th. We had a "standing room only" crowd. The purpose of the meeting was to consider a proposal to begin the steps necessary to dissolve the Meadowlakes Public Facility Corporation (PFC) that has been responsible for operating the golf course and restaurant since October 1, 2009.

Residents who moved here since that time are probably unaware of how or why the City bought the golfing complex in March of 2008. There were several reasons, but a major one was to assure that Meadowlakes has a place to dispose of our treated wastewater. Another was to assure that the complex was in good shape so it would benefit property values.

When the City bought the "Meadowlakes Country Club," all of the club's facilities and the special golf course mowers and equipment were in bad shape. Once the City completed facility repairs and bought new mowing equipment, the Council decided to set up the PFC to manage day to day operations. The course is now in excellent shape, but the equipment is nearing the end of its life. For that reason, and others, on Saturday, April 25, the Council voted to begin the process to dissolve the PFC in order to regain direct control. This process will take a minimum of six weeks, probably longer, but this decision will enable the Council to include projected financial requirements in the budget for fiscal year 2016. Hidden Falls restaurant and golf operations will continue without change during the process.

City budget meetings will begin in May, during which the Council will address all needs. The Property Owners Association will begin working on its FY2016 budget soon, too. The POA is responsible for the gate at the entry to Meadowlakes, plus streets, parks including the boat ramp area, the boat/trailer storage area, and maintenance of the declining number of vacant lots, etc. Residents are encouraged to attend and participate in all Council and POA meetings.

WATERING VIOLATIONS

It is standard policy that when watering restrictions are not being followed, for the first violation, Ordinance Enforcement will send the resident a warning letter advising of the possible oversight of the watering restrictions.  The warning letter advises the resident if a second or third violation occurs, a citation will be issued.

If a citation is issued for violating the watering restrictions two or more times, a mandatory court appearance is required and you will be assessed a fine plus court costs as set out in the schedule below:

Second Violation: Citation and Fine of up to $250 plus Court Costs of $61.00

Third Violation: Citation and Fine of up to $500 plus Court Costs of $61.00

ALL residents are encouraged to ensure that their sprinkler systems are set correctly to avoid notices and possible citations.  Please remember that if your system is unplugged or the electricity goes off, it will reset itself when turned back on and will need to be reprogrammed.  There will be no leniency for systems set incorrectly.
