MAYOR'S CORNER

Greetings!
Meadowlakes was originally developed as a retirement community for people over 60, though grandchildren were welcome to visit. My kids and their friends were regular visitors at their grandparents' home on the lake beginning in 1977. It has become apparent that Meadowlakes also is a great place for young families to live, and more are moving here every month.
I recently came upon some interesting information provided by the US Census Bureau. Total estimated population of Meadowlakes for 2012 was 2,104, with a median age of 59 - 47% male and 53% female. At that time, 29.4% of the residents were over 70, but 51.7% were under 60, 40% were under 50, and 19.4% were under 20.
Details are being finalized for an Easter Egg Hunt to be held at the POA Children's Park on Mahan on Easter Sunday afternoon. Watch for signs with details! Hidden Falls Restaurant is already decorated for the Easter Buffet Luncheon. Be sure to make reservations soon!
A joint workshop of the Meadowlakes City Council and the Meadowlakes Public Facility Corporation will be held at City Hall at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1st.

METER BOX AWARENESS
| | With the warmer weather approaching us, the snakes will be starting to make their way out and about and our meter readers are always on the look out for little visitors in the meter boxes. Along with this, please do not put out fake or toy snakes etc. in or near the meter boxes as this can really scare our meter readers. We appreciate everyone looking out for the meter readers safety.

WEBWORM CONTROL
| | Directors of the Board of the Meadowlakes Webworm Control Coop meet Tuesday with the objective of planning the 2015 spray season for continued protection of Meadowlakes pecan trees. In addition to conducting routine business, the Board elected Jack Tibbitts (315 Stewart) as Coop Treasurer, replacing Dale Fixsen who resigned last August. The Board also confirmed current directors for another term: John Aaron - President, Bob Brown - Vice President, Larry Latshaw - Secretary, and Jim Tolles - Director at large. Upcoming Survey - Property owners and residents should be aware that a pecan tree survey will be conducted over the next two weeks which require Directors visit the property to update pecan trees counts and assess which trees are still accessible by a tractor spray rig or instead require spray using the hand spray rig. Annual Meeting - Coop Members and property owners are invited to attend a special public meeting for the purpose of briefing plans for the 2015 spray season, covering such topics as: fee billing, results of the tree survey, general spray operations info, and answers to questions from members and the public. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20, 9:00 AM at City Municipal Building. For additional information or questions about the program, feel free to contact us.
