BRUSH/LIMB PICKUP SERVICE
limbs
City chipper crews will collect and chip brush trimmings every Thursday of each week. You MUST call the Public Works Department at (830) 693-2951 by 4 p.m. on Wednesday to get on the brush pickup list.

City Chipper Guidelines:
Our crews will only collect brush and limbs at least one (1) inch in diameter and no larger than 4 inches in diameter. Brush trimmings less than one (1) inch in diameter should be bundled as below for pickup by Allied.

Trimmings from banana and palm trees, vines, rose bushes, pampas grass, oleander and other fibrous plants must be bundled as below for pickup by Allied. Such items cannot be chipped due to their fibrous nature.

Residents and property owners who contract or hire a third party to trim shrubs and trees shall require the contractor to dispose of all trimmings. This includes waste generated from lawn maintenance such as leaves and grass clippings.  Neither Allied Waste nor the city will be responsible for pickup.

Charges:  There is no charge for the first 15 minutes of chipping.  After 15 minutes, you will be charged $20 for each additional 15 minute intervals with a minimum $20 charge.

Please note that brush, leaves or trash cannot be temporarily or permanently stored or deposited on any public or other private property including the streets.

Allied Waste Guidelines:
Small brush trimmings, twigs, sticks (anything less than one inch in diameter) shall be bundled tightly with string or wire in a bundle, not exceeding 4 feet in length and 50 pounds in weight for each bundle for bulk pickup by Allied Waste.

The next Allied Waste bulk pickup day is Friday, March 28th then every other Friday thereafter.

*Neither Allied Waste nor the city will be responsible for brush pickup that is greater than incidental prunings and clippings. Incidental pruning and clippings is defined as minor trimmings from a normal household/lot cleanup as would be appropriate for a residential family home owner to do in a usual home garden operation.

MAYOR'S CORNER
Greetings!

If you missed the St. Patrick's Day party at Hidden Falls Tuesday evening, you really missed a great time. Incredible food - best shrimp bisque, and corned beef and cabbage I've ever eaten! Wonderful decorations! And "Doc" and "The Princess" are the best host and hostess ever! They know how to keep the party going.

Sherri has taken on the responsibility for welcoming newcomers to our unique neighborhood. Last night they hosted a party for anyone who has moved to Meadowlakes in the past year, plus anyone else who wanted to come. Great food, great bingo and "horse racing," great fun all around. They had received RSVPs from around 80 people, but quite a few came at the last minute. Somehow, the Princess magically had plenty of food for everyone.

Meadowlakes is so very lucky that Sherri and Leo Staley chose our town for their retirement. Their next party will be in May. Don't miss it!

If you need help with your 2014 tax return, remember that tomorrow (Thursday, March 19th) is the day the AARP Tax Aide folks will be available at our City Hall from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Be sure to bring last year's return and any necessary documents.

CERT TRAINING CLASSES

REDUCE YOUR LOSSES IN A COMMUNITY DISASTER - BECOME A CERT TEAM MEMBER - SIGN UP NOW FOR OUR NEXT CLASS

In 95% of all emergencies, bystanders and everyday citizens provide the first immediate assistance on the scene.  Without the proper training, how would you know what to do?

On Thursday, April 23, 2015, the Burnet County Office of Emergency Management will begin holding a series of CERT training classes.  This training is free of charge and will be held from 7-10 p.m. in Burnet.  There is 7 weeks of training plus a live simulation and graduation.  Your only commitment is approximately 26 hours of your time.

This program is made possible by a CAPCOG Citizens Corps Grant Program/CERT which provides the funds for training, equipment and supplies.

To register for this class, get more information, and the training schedule, visit our website at www.burnetcountycert.org.
