MAYOR'S CORNER
| |
Greetings! Meadowlakes citizens will have an extra reason to be ready for Spring Break this year. Some of our residents help out with the AARP Tax-Aide program each year. On Thursdays, it is usually offered at the Boys & Girls Club on Broadway, but since that facility won't be available on Thursday, March 16th (it will be filled with out-of-school children), they have offered to come to Meadowlakes Town Hall instead! Mark your calendars - they will be available at our City Hall that day from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Tax filing assistance is available for low and moderate income filers of all ages. Returns will be e-mailed without charge. Bring last year's return and all necessary documents. If you wish to use the Tax-Aide services before March 16th, they are available from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Thursdays at the Boys & Girls Club (you'll see Jack Tibbitts, Mitch Geller and Sim Fernandes there) or from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM on Saturdays at the Marble Falls Community Resource Center at 1016 Broadway (you'll see Bob Powers there). You can call 830-596-2694 for more information. I hope you enjoyed the past few warm beautiful days because we'll have a cold rainy weekend.

A NOTE FROM ANIMAL CONTROL
| |
Because of the cooler weather during the past few weeks, there have been several sightings of raccoons and one fox acting suspiciously during the daytime. Two raccoons and one fox that showed signs of being sick were taken in for rabies testing; the results were all negative.
But the fact is that they were all sick, and they were roaming around in the daytime. All residents are being asked to take the following precautions:
- If you have a dog or cat as a pet, make sure the rabies vaccination is current.
- Be cautious of skunks, bats, foxes, or raccoons that are acting strangely particularly if they are active in daytime. If you observe any strange animal behavior, contact the Meadowlakes Animal Control Officer whose contact information is listed below.
- If you think your dog or cat may have been in contact with a skunk, bat, fox, or raccoon, contact your vet for a recommendation about a possible rabies booster shot.
- Advise your children to avoid unfamiliar animals or any animal that is acting strangely.
Thanks,
Robbie Galaway
