WATERING RESTRICTION EASING
Last night at the Meadowlakes City Council Workshop, City Manager, Johnnie Thompson, reported that the citizens of Meadowlakes have done an exemplary job by meeting and exceeding the water savings targets.  Due to overwhelming response by the citizens, water usage has actually decreased by 38%.  As a result, effective immediately the City will be easing water restrictions to allow for one additional watering day per week.  The watering schedule is as follows:

Residential:

Odd number addresses: Wednesdays and Saturdays

Even number addresses: Thursdays and Sundays

Commercial: (including large landscapes) Tuesdays and Fridays

Watering Hours: Midnight to 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight.

An advantage in the twice-a-week watering is that it would reduce the wasting of water by minimizing the need and frequency of flushing fire hydrants.  The City has received several calls recently regarding the taste/odor issues with our potable water, which would normally require the flushing of the lines via use of a fire hydrant.

The City Council will review the water consumption again at its regular meeting on October 14th.

MAYOR'S CORNER

Greetings!

We had a good turn-out for the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 9th. At the meeting, the Council adopted the budget for the fiscal year that begins October 1, 2014 and the property tax rate, which will remain at $0.3206 per $100 valuation. Since the County Appraiser increased most of the Meadowlakes property values this year, your taxes may go up a bit. The "average" valuation is now around $227,000, and if your home is exactly "average", you'll see a $19 increase in your City of Meadowlakes property taxes. The Council also voted to increase the monthly base fee for water by $5.00 for this fiscal year.

I was awakened at 4:00 AM not long ago by golf cart(s) buzzing around the fifth green behind my home. As a general rule, no golf carts are ever allowed on the greens! I wish I could walk my dog on the golf cart paths, but that also is a "No No" all the time. Skunks, armadillos, raccoons, possums...they don't pay any attention to the rules! The armadillo in my front flower bed yesterday morning didn't budge until my 88 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback was within 5 feet of it...then it skittered away very quickly. I think the rats prefer woodpiles, which I do not have, thank goodness.

Let's hope there are no rain or lightning delays for the football game this Friday night. Marble Falls High School's games are extra entertaining this year! See you there, I hope.

POA CC&R PROPOSED REVISION
There are two copies of the proposed CC&R revisions now available for review. They are published in the City Newsletter, on the POA website, or by mail with a request. You may also receive a hard copy from the POA office, if requested.

One is an overlay on the 1999 First Revision showing the proposed changes. The words that are crossed out will be deleted from the proposed Second Revision and will be replaced by the wording in red where appropriate. The other copy is the proposed Second Revision as it would appear when adopted.

The POA board welcomes and hopes for your input. Please feel free to contact any member of the board if you have questions or would like clarification of any of the proposed changes OR attend any POA monthly meeting which is held the third Tuesday of every month except October when we hold our annual meeting instead.

As stated in the letter from your President, David Baker, it is important that each property owner participates in the revision of this document.
