WATERING RESTRICTION EASING
| |
Last night at the Meadowlakes City Council Workshop, City Manager, Johnnie Thompson, reported that the citizens of Meadowlakes have done an exemplary job by meeting and exceeding the water savings targets. Due to overwhelming response by the citizens, water usage has actually decreased by 38%. As a result, effective immediately the City will be easing water restrictions to allow for one additional watering day per week. The watering schedule is as follows:
Residential:
Odd number addresses: Wednesdays and Saturdays
Even number addresses: Thursdays and Sundays
Commercial: (including large landscapes) Tuesdays and Fridays
Watering Hours: Midnight to 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight.
An advantage in the twice-a-week watering is that it would reduce the wasting of water by minimizing the need and frequency of flushing fire hydrants. The City has received several calls recently regarding the taste/odor issues with our potable water, which would normally require the flushing of the lines via use of a fire hydrant.
The City Council will review the water consumption again at its regular meeting on October 14th.

MAYOR'S CORNER
| | Greetings! Once again, the citizens of Meadowlakes have stepped up! We received multiple applications for the open positions on the PFC Board, Meadowlakes Building Committee, and Meadowlakes Planning & Zoning Commission! Application review committees composed of two members of the Council and two representatives from each entity on are already beginning their review. THANK YOU! Limbs are falling from the pecan trees in the orchard part of the neighborhood...I've already lost two rather large limbs in my yard. The winds seem to be picking up lately, which makes it cooler as we walk in the evenings, but I'm spending a lot more time looking UP when we walk in the orchard area. Be ready to jump out of the way when you hear a loud CRACK! The community garden has been cleaned out and plowed, and spaces have been assigned. The garden is a bit larger this fall, so there are still spaces available. Contact Grover Howell if you would like to give gardening a try! The City provides water for the garden plots. LATE BREAKING GOOD NEWS: WATERING RESTRICTIONS EASED!
Last night, our City Manager, Johnnie Thompson, reported that the citizens of Meadowlakes have gone way beyond expectations in the reduction of water usage. We had hoped for a 10% to 20% reduction, but you came through with a 38% reduction! Unfortunately, our trees and lawns are suffering - and the City is beginning to receive complaints about the quality of the water (odor, taste, etc.). The only way to improve the water is to open fire hydrants and let water run down the streets. Last night the Council voted to go back to our previous watering schedule, in order to avoid wasting water in that way. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY - WE ARE BACK TO THE PREVIOUS SCHEDULE: If your address ends in an odd number, you may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If your address ends in an even number you may water on Thursdays and Sundays. Watering hours are from midnight until 10:00 AM and from 7:00 PM until midnight. Mary Ann Raesener Mayor |
WEBWORM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
| | Call for Volunteers Meadowlakes Webworm Control COOP Dale Fixsen, the COOP's treasurer recently resigned from the COOP Board of Directors due to his upcoming relocation to North Carolina. For the past seven years, Dale has served on the board as treasurer, with the responsibilities of "keeper" of the financials and preparation of member billings/receivables for the 400-plus property owners that have pecan trees in Meadowlakes. The Board would like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks and gratitude to Dale for the major amount of time and effort expended in serving the COOP and the community. With Dale's retirement the COOP must now put out a call for volunteers. Residents who have an interest in serving on the Board are requested to contact me at number listed below. The skills and experience required for the position are those associated with "light bookkeeping" and use of MS Excel software. John Aaron, President 830-693-1110 |

POA CC&R PROPOSED REVISION
| |
There are two copies of the proposed CC&R revisions now available for review. They are published in the City Newsletter, on the POA website, or by mail with a request. You may also receive a hard copy from the POA office, if requested.
One is an overlay on the 1999 First Revision showing the proposed changes. The words that are crossed out will be deleted from the proposed Second Revision and will be replaced by the wording in red where appropriate. The other copy is the proposed Second Revision as it would appear when adopted.
The POA board welcomes and hopes for your input. Please feel free to contact any member of the board if you have questions or would like clarification of any of the proposed changes OR attend any POA monthly meeting which is held the third Tuesday of every month except October when we hold our annual meeting instead.
As stated in the letter from your President, David Baker, it is important that each property owner participates in the revision of this document.
