MAYOR'S CORNER

Greetings!

We had a great turn-out of citizens for our City Council workshop Tuesday, August 12th, and many of them stayed for our regular meeting.   The City works better when the citizens participate! Workshops are held when necessary, and they usually start at 3:00 PM. They are more free-flowing, with input from the audience encouraged. The regular Council meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month and start at 5:00 PM. The regular POA meetings are held on the third Tuesday and start at 7:00 PM. Please attend as many meetings as possible. We appreciate your input during these sessions!

We appreciate the time spent by our citizens who volunteer to serve on the Council, Building Committee and MPFC Board to keep this lovely city on the right track! If you are interested in serving on the Meadowlakes Planning & Zoning Commission, or the Building Committee, or the Meadowlakes Public Facility Corporation Board, come by City Hall and pick up an application by August 29th.

School starts very soon! You will be seeing the school bus driving through the neighborhood each morning and afternoon, picking up and delivering our precious children. We all know that we must never pass a stopped bus that has its red lights flashing - and that we need to give those kids time to get across the streets. Please be extra careful!

The city has purchased a used street sweeper. As soon as minor repairs are completed, it will start sweeping our streets on a regular basis. The first challenge will be to pick up all of the loose rock left after the recent repaving. Much of it has been washed down the streets toward the lake, thanks to the lovely rains. I know I'll be happy when the streets are clear again - and so will my dog! I just hate to walk on a lot of loose rock!

I just realized that it is time for my dog's annual vaccinations - and to renew her Meadowlakes license! She hasn't made a run for it for at least a couple of years (thank goodness, we are both getting old and slow), but if she ever escapes, I want to be sure she has a current tag so we can be reunited. Please check your dog's vaccination dates and be sure to keep a Meadowlakes tag on the dog at all times so Robbie can get your pet back to you if it ever gets out!

to bring a baggie with you when walking your pets in case nature calls.  Your fellow neighbors will thank you.

Following is an excerpt from ordinance section 4-5(b):

"A person commits an offense if the owner or person in control of an animal intentionally, knowingly, recklessly or with criminal negligence allows or permits such animal to defecate on any public or private property other than that of the owner of the animal unless said person removes said animal feces and disposes of it in a safe and sanitary manner."
GOLF CART REGISTRATION
golf-cart-green.jpg
All privately owned golf carts, which operate on streets within the city, are required to display a reflective and numbered decal that shall be affixed to the front and rear of the vehicle, and furthermore, owners are required to affix decals in conspicuous locations which are visible to an observer observing from the front and from the rear of the cart. The decals (2) shall be issued by the city, and affixed by the cart owner to allow unique owner identification of the golf cart when being operated on the streets of Meadowlakes. The effective date of enforcement of this requirement is April 15, 2010, after which time a person commits an offense if the person operates a golf cart on streets within the city without such city-issued decals so affixed. Ownership transfer of carts with existing city-issued decals requires that the new owner register with the city within 30 days of transfer. The city shall design the decal such that persons with normal vision can decipher decal-assigned numbers at a minimum distance of 50 feet during daylight hours.

A fee of $5.00 shall be charged for the issuance or re-issuance of golf cart decals as required by Section 28-20.
