PEC EQUIPMENT INVENTORY
| | Pedernales Electric will be inventorying equipment in the Meadowlakes area during the next 2-weeks and will need access to all PEC equipment on your property. PEC has retained Davey Resource group to gather comprehensive data on every piece of PEC equipment and infrastructure. This inventory will help PEC provide even more reliable electricity and respond to outages more quickly. Landscaping may need to be trimmed or cleared from the equipment doors to gain access to this equipment. If you have any questions or concerns please call 1-800-868-4791 ext-7207 or 7220. |
MAYOR'S CORNER
| | Just as I was deciding what to write about for the Mayor's Corner of our weekly Newsletter, I received a phone call from our area's PEC Board Member, Cristi Clement. The Marble Falls area Director of District Operations, Nathan Burns, had contacted her because PEC is trying to do an inventory of all PEC equipment that is located in Meadowlakes...for the first time in several years. You know...those big green boxes you see on street corners or perhaps in your front yard. They may not be pretty, but they are absolutely essential! I just measured the one at the corner of Columbine & Olympia Fields (on golf course property) and it is 36" wide x 33" deep, and 24" tall - a faded grayish green - with peeling stickers that appear to say "Caution - High Voltage" and "Danger - Two Way Feed". It is on a concrete pad and padlocked shut at the base. Many of us try to disguise the PEC boxes - and the Northland Cable boxes - and the telephone equipment boxes - with plants or bushes. And that is fine as long as clear and easy access to the boxes is maintained at all times. If the power goes off in the middle of a cold winter's night - or in the middle of a 100 degree Texas summer day - we want those PEC personnel to be able to get to the problem quickly! The PEC inventory is being performed by Davey Resources. Their trucks should clearly identify them. Please be proactive about cutting a clear path to the box on your property if it has become engulfed by bushes! PEC has the right of way to get to their equipment, so they will be doing the cutting if necessary. Another important subject right now...October 31st is when terms on City Boards and committees end. I hope you will think very seriously about volunteering to serve on the entity that best fits your experience and interests. Contact City Hall for more information. Applications are due at City Hall by no later than August 31st (a Sunday, so please get them in by Friday, August 29th). Terms are up as follow: Meadowlakes Public Facility Corporation (responsible for running Hidden Falls) - three positions. Building Committee, which meets twice a month - four positions. Planning and Zoning Commission, which meets when necessary - two positions.

GOLF CART REGISTRATION
| | All privately owned golf carts, which operate on streets within the city, are required to display a reflective and numbered decal that shall be affixed to the front and rear of the vehicle, and furthermore, owners are required to affix decals in conspicuous locations which are visible to an observer observing from the front and from the rear of the cart. The decals (2) shall be issued by the city, and affixed by the cart owner to allow unique owner identification of the golf cart when being operated on the streets of Meadowlakes. The effective date of enforcement of this requirement is April 15, 2010, after which time a person commits an offense if the person operates a golf cart on streets within the city without such city-issued decals so affixed. Ownership transfer of carts with existing city-issued decals requires that the new owner register with the city within 30 days of transfer. The city shall design the decal such that persons with normal vision can decipher decal-assigned numbers at a minimum distance of 50 feet during daylight hours.
A fee of $5.00 shall be charged for the issuance or re-issuance of golf cart decals as required by Section 28-20. |
