MAYOR'S CORNER

Right now, the Meadowlakes City Council is in the midst of preparing the City budget for Fiscal Year 2015, which will begin on October 1, 2014. This includes review and approval of the Meadowlakes Public Facility Corporation (MPFC) budget for the Hidden Falls golf and restaurant complex. The Council always appreciates input from residents, either at meetings or personally. We are lucky that the City bought the complex so that we have a guaranteed place to dispose of our treated wastewater. Other cities around us are paying big bucks to dispose of their wastewater.

More and more golfers from outside Meadowlakes are finding their way to this jewel, along with several large groups that are happy to have our restaurant available for their regular luncheons, dinners and meetings. All of them help to financially support Hidden Falls, but balancing that budget is still a challenge. Please take advantage of everything Hidden Falls has to offer you and your family!

My dog Sugar (a Rhodesian Ridgeback) and I walk the neighborhood streets once or twice a day, although lately it has been too hot most days to walk as far as usual. We observe new homes being built, new neighbors moving in, renovations going on...we are all lucky to live in a thriving neighborhood that still has quiet, safe streets. We have a lot more families moving in, and we want those kids to be safe! Our speed limit just about everywhere is 25 MPH - and stricter enforcement has begun...so watch your speed and be sure to come to a complete stop at all STOP signs!

It is the time of year when City committee and MPFC terms expire. The Building Committee (2 year terms) has four terms ending, the Planning & Zoning Committee (2 year terms) has three terms ending, and the Meadowlakes Public Facility Corporation (3 year terms) that runs Hidden Falls will have three terms ending. Please contact our City Secretary, Christy Fath, at City Hall (830-693-6840) for more information if you would be willing to serve.

GOLF CART REGISTRATION
golf-cart-green.jpg
All privately owned golf carts, which operate on streets within the city, are required to display a reflective and numbered decal that shall be affixed to the front and rear of the vehicle, and furthermore, owners are required to affix decals in conspicuous locations which are visible to an observer observing from the front and from the rear of the cart. The decals (2) shall be issued by the city, and affixed by the cart owner to allow unique owner identification of the golf cart when being operated on the streets of Meadowlakes. The effective date of enforcement of this requirement is April 15, 2010, after which time a person commits an offense if the person operates a golf cart on streets within the city without such city-issued decals so affixed. Ownership transfer of carts with existing city-issued decals requires that the new owner register with the city within 30 days of transfer. The city shall design the decal such that persons with normal vision can decipher decal-assigned numbers at a minimum distance of 50 feet during daylight hours.

A fee of $5.00 shall be charged for the issuance or re-issuance of golf cart decals as required by Section 28-20.
