MAYOR'S CORNER

School is out - which means lots of schedule changes - and no school buses in the neighborhood on weekday mornings and afternoons. Instead, please be on the lookout at all times for our kids on wheels and on foot (in addition to the many regular walkers - with or without dogs). Right now, the POA road improvement project is in full swing. I know it may not seem like an improvement at this stage, due to the occasional road closures and all of the loose rocks, but I have been assured that - with time, heat, and lots of traffic - the rocks will merge with the base and we'll have smooth black roads in a few months. At that time, the paving company should come back to sweep up the excess rocks. If you have any questions, Van Estill is the POA Board Member in charge of this project. This is budget season for all of the City's entities. The POA, PFC and City Council are each holding public workshops. We appreciate the input of our residents. Here's a schedule of upcoming meetings: PFC Workshop - This Friday, June 20th - 8:00 AM - City Hall PFC & City Workshop - Next week - Tuesday, June 24th - 4:00 PM - City Hall NOTE: The annual Pedernales Electric Coop meeting will be held on Saturday, June 21st at Cedar Park High School - be there by 10:30 AM to vote (if you haven't already voted by mail) and to register to win prizes (e.g., a used PEC pickup). ANIMAL CONTROL
| | Did you know?? There are ordinances concerning pets that most residents aren't aware of. We have a "Short-List" of Animal Control Ordinances at City Hall that gives you a quick reference to the more relevant sections of the Meadowlakes Animal Control Ordinances.
A couple of issues have been brought to the City's attention. These include: 1.) All animals shall be kept under restraint from leaving a residence's lot line. If they leave the residence, they must be under restraint with a leash not longer than 12 feet.
2.) All dogs and cats must be registered at City Hall within 30 days of residency or acquisition of a new pet. A current rabies vaccination certificate and a one-time $10.00 licensing fee is required for each pet at the time of registration. City I.D. tags will be issued and worn by each animal. Thereafter, a current rabies vaccination certificate must be presented at City Hall upon expiration of their current shots. A $5.00 renewal fee will also be incurred. Once you no longer own the pet, please inform City Hall so that it may be purged from the City's files. |
