A NOTE FROM THE MAYOR
| | Greetings,
In my first week after being sworn in as Mayor, we were under flash flood and tornado warnings - and for the first time in a very long time, Lakes Buchanan and Travis actually rose...more than a foot! And I had a total of 5 inches of rain in my backyard rain gauge! Although the first order of business for the new Council will be to come up with a budget for the fiscal year that begins October 1, 2014, this weather event made me realize that the safety of our citizens is #1 - and I'm not up to speed about our Emergency Action Plan. I don't own a hard hat or a yellow slicker...yet...but I will find out what I need to know, and pass it along. I'm sure many of you have noticed that something is going on with our streets - starting with Columbine and Stewart. Turkey Run and Meadowlakes Drive will also be redone this spring and summer. The Property Owners Association (POA) owns the streets, and they had just begun this year's project when the rains hit. The streets have to be totally bone dry before the paving can begin. All that has been done so far is basic filling of cracks on the first two streets. I walk my dog all around the neighborhood every morning and evening, so we are well aware of the change in street condition caused by all of the loose gravel - especially following the run-off the past few days. This will delay completion of the POA street improvement project, but they will do the best they can to make sure residents can get in and out of their homes...and the neighborhood...at all times! Your patience will be much appreciated! We have an excellent mix of experience on our new Council. I hope residents will attend as many regular monthly Council, POA and Public Facility Corporation (PFC) meetings as possible. Your input is very important! I look forward to hearing from you - during meetings, while walking the neighborhood, in the grocery store, anywhere and anytime!
Mary Ann Raesener Mayor

A NOTE FROM THE CITY SECRETARY
| | Dear Meadowlakes Residents and friends, It is bittersweet to write my last column for this newsletter and to say goodbye to this remarkable community, but new opportunities have called my family to California. It has been my privilege to work for the City of Meadowlakes for over six years. I started as the Utility Billing Clerk, and when Celia Peace left in 2009 I replaced her as the bookkeeper and POA secretary. When Linda Wendling resigned as City Secretary in 2011, I was appointed to fill her position. I've also had the pleasure of being a resident since 2012, when we bought our home.
During my time working here, I have met so many wonderful people. For me, what sets Meadowlakes apart are the friendliness and goodwill of the residents, some of whom are also my coworkers. Even during times of tension, there is an overriding sense of community, of working together to make this the best place to live and work.
I will miss all of you, our beautiful neighborhood, my coworkers, and my 20 second commute, but I am leaving you in the very capable hands of my replacement, Christy Fath. In the weeks that I have been training her, she has also become my friend, and I know that she will do an excellent job. If you haven't met her yet, please come by and introduce yourself. Regards, Stephanie

DROUGHT UPDATE
|
|
MANDATORY ONCE A WEEK WATERING NOW IN EFFECT
Once-a-Week Outdoor Watering Schedule: Address ends in: Your watering day is: 0 or 1 Monday 2 or 3 Tuesday 4 or 5 Wednesday 6 or 7 Thursday 8 or 9 Friday
Watering with a hose end sprinkler or automatic irrigation system is permitted on the scheduled day between the hours of Midnight to 10 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to midnight. Hand watering is permitted any day between the hours of midnight and 10 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to midnight but only with a hand-held positive shutoff nozzle or bucket.
City staff will be available to help with programming of your irrigation system timer if needed. If you would like assistance with changing the programming on your irrigation system timer please call city hall at 830-693-2951.
We also suggest checking the sprinkler heads in your irrigation system to make sure that they are adjusted and working properly so that they are not wasting water by spraying onto the street, sidewalks or driveway.
You may have received a phone call from the City of Marble Falls regarding your scheduled watering day. Please do not follow this schedule. Meadowlakes is not using the same watering schedule as Marble Falls. These calls are from an automated system. We are trying to determine why they are calling Meadowlakes and hope to have the problem resolved shortly.
There will be more information about the drought and our drought contingency plan available on our website: www.meadowlakestexas.org. We will also have links posted there for additional information about the drought from the LCRA.
The following enforcement provisions shall apply to all City of Meadowlakes retail water customers:
First Violation: Notice issued
Second Violation: Fine of up to $250
Third Violation: Fine of up to $500
