A NOTE FROM THE MAYOR
|
| Neighbors,
At the past few council meetings, several of our residents have expressed their concerns about the traffic on our streets, specifically, drivers speeding on several of our streets and drivers not stopping at the stop signs. I am sure you have seen the speed control sign. We change its location regularly. It is just a reminder to help you adjust your speed to the 25 mph on all our streets. We have asked our Sheriff patrol officers to step up the enforcement of our traffic laws. Our research from the speed control sign shows that most of our residents follow the speed laws. However, as in most problems, a few can affect the many.
Below is a list of the most common traffic offenses, and the fines involved. Our goal is to have no one pay a traffic fine. All of the fines listed below are in addition to the court costs, which are an additional $97.10 Failure to stop at a stop sign:$75 Speeding, 30/25: $80 Speeding, 35/25: $110 Speeding, 37/25: $122 Speeding, 40/25: $140 Any defendant who elects deferred disposition through the Meadowlakes Municipal Court to prevent the ticket from affecting their driving record must complete a mandatory 10 hours of Community Service. Additionally, requesting to take defensive driving for ticket dismissal in lieu of deferred disposition is no longer an option within the City of Meadowlakes.
