City of

Meadowlakes

NOTICE TO OUR CUSTOMERS OF
MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTIONS

Beginning April 1, 2014
the City of Meadowlakes will begin Mandatory Water Restrictions in response to the extreme drought conditions, which are predicted to continue for the foreseeable future.Due to the water shortage the City is now implementing mandatory water restrictions in accordance with the City's Drought Contingency Plan Stage 2.  The Lower Colorado River Authority has requested that all municipalities, utility districts and other water suppliers that draw water from the Colorado River implement mandatory water-use restrictions in order to accomplish a 20% reduction in overall water consumption.

We recognize that many of our customers voluntarily reduced their water consumption and we would like to thank those that have done so. We ask those that have already taken steps to please honor the restrictions and watering schedule listed below. The most effective way of reducing water consumption is to reduce watering your lawns. With spring upon us and summer just around the corner, we ask that you please make sure your irrigation system is applying irrigated water in the most efficient manner possible. Checking that all heads are set properly and that you are not wasting water by spraying sidewalks, driveways, and the street are effective ways to conserve.

The City may be forced to institute mandatory once a week watering in the near future depending on the amount of water available.Mandatory once a week watering will be triggered when the total available water in storage in Lake Buchanan and Lake Travis reaches 750,000 acre-feet. As of March 25th the total combined water available in these two lakes is 756,101 acre-feet.  If mandatory once a week watering is instituted you will receive an additional notice with a revised watering schedule and additional restrictions.

For Stage 2 of the City's Drought Contingency Plan the following prohibitions are in effect:

a.    Outdoor watering hours will be limited to between midnight and 10 a.m. and between 7 p.m. and midnight on designated days shown below.  This prohibition does not apply to irrigation of landscaped areas by means of a hand-held hose or a faucet-filled bucket or watering can of five gallons or less. Irrigate outdoors using an in-ground irrigation system or hose-end sprinkler no more than TWICE per week and only during scheduled days and times as indicated below:

Residential:

Odd number addresses-Wednesday and Saturday
Even number addresses-Thursday and Sunday

Commercial:
