Greetings!

An extra yawn one morning in the springtime, an extra snooze one night in the autumn is all that we ask in return for dazzling gifts. We borrow an hour one night in April; we pay it back with golden interest five months later.

ANIMAL CONTROL

A Meadowlakes resident who has been struggling to control squirrels in her yard found a solution that she wanted me to pass along: Fox urine, which is available at feed stores and is available in liquid and pellet form, has been a very effective deterrent. She says the smell is unfortunate but well worth it.

ELECTION CORNER
vote

January 29th was the first day to file for a place on the ballot for the general election to be held in May. The deadline to file was February 28th by 5:00 p.m. There were three positions open; Place 1 currently held by Mary Ann Raesener, Place 3 currently held by Gary Hammond, and the Mayor's position.

Update: Mary Ann Raesener is running uncontested for Mayor and Mike Barry is running uncontested for Place 1. We will have a race between Jerry Drummond and Moe Garza for Place 3. The election will be held on Saturday, May 10th. Early voting will begin Monday, April 28th. I will have more information regarding dates and times of early voting in future newsletters.

IRRIGATION ORDINANCE
The City of Meadowlakes passed an ordinance on 2/11/14 requiring a permit for installation of all new irrigation systems. The cost for this permit is $35 and includes one inspection. For more information, please contact City Hall at 693-6840.
