In a recent meeting of the ELUM Advisory Group, ELUM Madhu Mazumdar coined the phrase, "When you give more, you get more." So what do you get when you give to ELAM?

One of the more powerful ways that ELAM gives to our ELUMs is through our newly created, biannual professional development programs. The first of these programs took place in Nashville in December of 2011, had over 80 ELUMs in attendance, and received rave reviews. Attendees left the program, which was centered on conflict management and negotiation skills, feeling as though they had been through a "mini-ELAM", and went back to their institutions rejuvenated and enriched. 

The next ELUM professional development program is scheduled for January 9 - 12, 2014 in San Antonio, and is focusing on how to improve the way we communicate on a number of levels, from first impressions to professional presentations. It promises to have the same impact on everyone who participates.

When you give to the ELAM annual campaign, your gift goes into the Innovations Fund, which helps to fund these professional development programs.

While only a portion of the funds that support these programs is from ELUM giving, it's an extremely important piece of the pie. ELUM giving allows us to keep registration fees down, and to offer the enrichment sessions that make these events special, like small group consultation and coaching sessions and opening dinners and receptions. 

When you give to ELAM, you're giving yourself and the entire ELUM community the gift of more connections, more learning, and more impact.
