Inauguration of Amesbury's First Poet Laureate -
The inauguration of Amesbury's first Poet Laureate, Ms. Lainie Senechal was held on Sunday January 17 at the Whittier Home & Museum in Amesbury.  It was a joyous occasion, attended by the mayor of Amesbury, Ken Gray, Senator Kathleen O'Connor Ives, Representative Jim Kelcourse, and many friends and illustrious poets from Somerville, Cambridge, Newbury, Newburyport, Byfield, Portsmouth and Amesbury. Plaques of recognition were presented by David Andrews of the Amesbury Cultural Council to Lainie Senechal, Amesbury's first Poet Laureate, and posthumously to John Greenleaf Whittier who was named the Poet Laureate Emeritus of Amesbury.  Although Whittier was a popular and beloved poet of the nation, he never received this distinction in his lifetime.  Whittier Home Association president, Chris Bryant was proud to accept this honor on his behalf.  Read More

Just a quick note to share with you an opportunity shared with us by a friend of Merrohawke. The 1st Annual Margaret V. Parker Seluk Scholarship has been created by Mary Ellen Comerford to honor her mother, who was a strong advocate for children.  Ms. Comerford believes that "Often special activities aren't considered due to financial strain in a family. As a result, children can miss out on important opportunities, or become discouraged at critical times in their lives." The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a girl aged 8-12, who wishes to pursue an opportunity of her dreams.... like attend Merrohawke this summer?  Read More

Ironic was born in 2002 in Rome, Italy as a boutique consultancy in the entertainment industry offering representation and promotional services to a variety of artists.  In addition, Ironic offered events organization including film, music and theater festivals, as well as targeted promotion, marketing and communication programs for creative projects. In 2007 Linda, and Ironic, returned to the States. The consultancy continued, operating mainly in the production industry.

In 2011 Linda launched Ironic Music Booking Agency. Ironic is a licensed theatrical booking agent in MA, a requirement in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Ironic is the most comprehensive booking agency on the New England music scene and handles a wide array of artists. We are confident that we can provide the perfect entertainment for any venue or situation. We also differentiate ourselves from other booking agents in that we offer the most wide-ranging promotion and marketing of all the gigs we book, utilizing mainly social media.
