Early Renewals Offered to Small Employers |
To help mitigate the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on health insurance premiums, some health insurance issuers in the small group market have been encouraging small employers to renew their coverage early for 2014.
The early renewal option offers small employers the option to renew their coverage in late 2013 instead of waiting to renew until their 2014 policy anniversary dates.

Are you prepared for a disability?
5 questions every worker should ask.
|
Your most important asset is not your home, your car, your jewelry or other possessions. It's your ability to earn a living. But what would happen if your paychecks stopped? That's where disability insurance comes in. It provides an income to you and your family if you are unable to work because of illness or injury.
Illnesses and accidents are on the rise in America, causing more workers to miss work and lose income. At some time during their working careers, 3 out of every 10 workers will suffer a disability and be unable to work for a significant period of time. Click here for the 5 questions every worker should be asking.

Hilton Head Health - Wellness Tip
Basic Fundamentals of a Good Diet
|
Practices Hilton Head Health has been recommending for years
Provided by Bob Wright, Director of Lifestyle Education at Hilton Head Health
A study recently published online in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found that of all the things you can do to manage your weight, doing three things seemed to have the biggest impact:
1. Keeping a food journal
2. Not skipping meals
3. Eating out less frequently
Lead author of the study, Anne McTierman M.D., Ph.D. commented "when it comes to weight loss, evidence from randomized controlled trials comparing different diets finds that restricting total calories is more important than diet composition such as low fat versus low carbohydrate. Therefore, the specific aim of our study was to identify behaviors that support the goal of calorie restriction." Those behaviors seemed to have the biggest effect on the caloric intake of the participants. Click here to read more about the study and results found.

Recipes from H3 Healthy Kitchen Chef Jen Welper:
May is National Mediterranean Diet Month!
|
Here at Hilton Head Health, we don't endorse "diets" - we endorse a lifestyle. So here, Mediterranean isn't just a "diet;" it's a way of living. It's characterized by the traditional cooking styles and foods of those countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, which include fresh fish, fruits, vegetables, high-fiber grains and healthy, unsaturated fats - paired with an active lifestyle of course!
In celebration of National Mediterranean Diet Month, we encourage you to incorporate some Mediterranean dishes into your meal plan. To help you start, try our popular Chicken Souvlaki recipe.
