Dear Fellow Alumni,

With the brief dusting of snow having already melted, it's hard to believe that we are just one week away from Christmas day. Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa or any other special holiday, the month of December can be an especially busy one. To get the most out of this extra special time with friends and family, this year I am trying to overcome the urge to do it all. Over the years I have learned that, oftentimes, less actually is more, and that keeping it simple makes more room for the things that really matter. Of course, that's not to say that I don't love a little extra holiday glitter and pomp, but I've realized that nobody really minds if the candles don't match the table cloth or whether the pie is homemade or store-bought. A memorable holiday celebration is one where we can simply relax and spend quality time with those dearest to us. With all that is happening in the world right now, we are sure to value this more than ever.

From myself and the rest of the KPUAA board and staff, I wish you all peace, joy and happiness this holiday season and throughout the New Year.

All the best,

 Kristan Signature

Holiday Traditions: Yours, Mine and Ours

By Kristyl Clark

Let's face it, December can be the most wonderful, but also the most stressful time of the year. Aside from having to maneuver through crowded shopping malls in search for the 'perfect gift,' balance work with a slew of holiday parties and attempt to stay on budget, there is the worry about where and when it's appropriate to spread some holiday cheer -- especially in the workplace.

It's important to remember that just because you're in the Christmas spirit, doesn't mean all of your coworkers and clients share the same sentiment, or religious beliefs for that matter, according to Simma Lieberman, a diversity and inclusion/culture change consultant who is also the co author of two books: 'Putting Diversity to Work, how to successfully lead...More>>>
