Learn about Increased Support for Transfer Students
As part of their work with transfer students, Student Success and Transitions (SST) started collecting data on the fall 2012 transfer cohort. The results revealed much opportunity for improvement in academic success, persistence, and retention of transfer students across the board.
As a result, IPFW and Ivy Tech will begin to work collaboratively with pre-transfer students. Support structures will include recurring workshops on both campuses, focused transfer credit evaluation, and dedicated coordination throughout the application and enrollment processes.
New Position Created
To support these efforts, SST will be filling a vacant position with a Transfer and Special Population Coordinator. An announcement will be made regarding this hire in the coming weeks. In the interim, direct questions to Krissy Creager, assistant vice chancellor for student success and transitions. Read more [PDF]

Be Aware of Print Client Change
IT Services is planning a gradual switch from Novell iPrint to Microsoft Active Directory Printing. All faculty and staff will be affected, whether using Window or Mac operating systems. Printing functionality will not change, but there is a hard cut-over for each department because the old and new methods of printing are mutually exclusive.
Administrative departments will be migrated in July followed by academic departments in September/October. An ITS staff member will be reaching out to schedule department cut-overs. For questions or to volunteer your department to be an early adopter, contact the Help Desk at 481-6030.

Access to lynda.com Online Training Library Discontinued
Due to a proposed 60% rate increase combined with relatively low usage within the IU community, IU will not be renewing its contract with lynda.com after it expires on June 30, 2016. Since IPFW gains access to lynda.com through IU's contract, IPFW's use of this resource will end June 30 as well. Alternate training options and resources can be found on our website.

Bon Bon's Contract Ends Bon Bon's coffee shop, located in the ETCS building, has decided to close at the end of the spring term instead of the end of our fiscal year. As the summer is a much slower time for coffee sales, we understand and support their decision. The area will now be used by our students. |
