IPFW Nursing and IU School of Medicine--FW Collaborate with Parkview on Area Clinic
greyscl-wheelchair-window.jpgFalls are among the most common injuries treated in emergency rooms; the older a person is, the greater the risk of injury, even death. Parkview's Fall Prevention Clinic, part of the Center on Aging and Health, aims to change those statistics in an ongoing collaboration with the IU School of Medicine-- Fort Wayne (IUSM-- FW) and the IPFW Department of Nursing. Started in April 2014, the center is on the second floor of the Parkview Randallia campus, the previous home of Parkview Heart Institute.

Research shows the more coexisting health problems at the time of a fall, the greater the risk of injury leading to hospitalization or a nursing home. Because falls often have multiple causes ranging from neurological to cardiac to side effects of medications, the clinic will soon add more occupational therapy, physical therapy, and nursing students from IUSM-FW and IPFW. Two Ways to Help---- Women's Basketball Golf Outing
golf5.jpg The 7th Annual IPFW Women's Basketball Golf Outing will take place Friday, September 11, at Cedar Creek Golf Club in Leo, Ind. The brochure for the event is on the Athletics website under "Additional Links." Proceeds will help support all aspects of the women's basketball program.

You can help in two ways:
  • Sign up a foursome and enjoy a great day of golf
  • Sponsor a hole. A sign will be placed at a hole with your name or department name with a slogan of your choosing, such as "Go Dons!"

Enjoy a fun day of golf, along with beverages, pulled pork, and sides. In addition, the 1987--88 Big Ten Purdue basketball championship team will be in attendance. Players include Troy Lewis, Todd Mitchell, Everette Stephens, Kip Jones, Steve Scheffler, Tony Jones, and Ryan Berning.

Come and celebrate the continued success the Dons are having under Coach Chris Paul's leadership. This year's talented young team is excited to make a run for a Summit League Championship!
