Concerns about Catering a Campus Event?
Aramark will soon be the exclusive caterer for departments that purchase catering services with university funds, and several people have expressed concern about upcoming events. Aramark is expected to be in operation at IPFW starting August 24. If your department has scheduled a catered event on or after that date and you would like to begin planning with Aramark, contact Joel Weinzierl at 317-213-7282 or weinzierl-joel@aramark.com. Weinzierl will handle such requests until our food services director, Tara Shepard, is on board.

University departments with events that require catering services prior to August 24 can hire the caterer of their choice. You can review the guidelines under the Caterer Guidelines tab on the Purchasing website, or find out how to reserve a room on the Special Events website. Remember to keep your business manager in the loop about expenses or questions about expenses for catered events.
computer_server.jpgWho Owns Your O: Drive?

Information Technology Services will conduct an audit of O: drives this summer to make sure each drive has a current owner on file. Usually a department head or chair is the default owner, along with other delegates whose requests for access have been approved. Email communications about the audit will come from audits@ipfw.edu

Avoid Buying Toner from Supply Services Inc.

Supply Services Inc., out of Atlanta, Ga., recently called an IPFW department to sell toner. The call seemed to come from an internal department and the sales rep had printer model and other information that was intentionally misleading. This company is not an approved vendor for purchasing toner. Additional information about this company

Toner purchases should be made in Ariba from Cannon IV or GovConnection with Purdue pricing or from ICC Business Products with IPFW pricing. Comparing prices before ordering is recommended. Cannon IV and GovConnection are catalog vendors and ICC is a non-catalog vendor. You can find the ICC toner price list on the Purchasing website. [PDF]

Do mobile devices have a place in the classroom? The Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) thinks they do. Last week the unit sponsored "Why Mobility Matters," a 2-1/2 day workshop that explored how to take advantage of the "mobile" in mobile devices to engage students. Brenda Groff, continuing lecturer in the Department of Organizational and Leadership Supervision, snapped some photos on her tablet. View large image Photo by Jim Whitcraft
Thanks to You,
the Survey Says: 98.56%
Philip Davich, director of accounting services, sends thanks to all university departments for their assistance in completing the biennial capital equipment survey. Our score in the survey was 98.56 percent. Timely reporting of changes in equipment status by departments played a significant role in this achievement.
