2014 Purdue Open Enrollment
two_doctors.jpgPurdue Open Enrollment will begin October 27 and end November 14 (6 p.m. ET). Over the last several years, Consumerism and High Deductible Health Plans have been a part of our ongoing education and communication. Employee efforts and medical care decisions have made a difference and consequently there will not be plan design changes or increases in the medical plan premiums.

This year's benefits sessions will include a brief overview of the plans and will highlight the High Deductible Health Plans and the Health Savings Accounts. The sessions will begin Monday, October 27. Contact Tina Grady at 481-6684 or Tina Sullivan at 481-6683 with questions. Read the details [PDF] Session schedule

Antivirus Upgrade Starts October 27
During the week of October 27, IT Services will upgrade the antivirus software (Trend Micro OfficeScan) on all faculty/staff Windows workstations. You do not need to take any action other than to reboot your computer when prompted. You may see a notification that your computer no longer has antivirus software installed, but this is because the old version will be automatically uninstalled as part of the 5--10 minute upgrade process. Details about Mac upgrades will be released at a later date. If you have questions, please contact the IT Services Help Desk at 481-6030 or helpdesk@ipfw.edu.
Stuck Here during a Winter Storm?
Stay in Student Housing
In anticipation of another extreme winter, IPFW Student Housing has a limited amount of apartments that are being set aside for IPFW employees who may have difficulty getting to and from home in inclement weather. These apartments will be set up to accommodate emergency situations. The rate will be $25 per evening, per individual (plus tax) for a fully furnished apartment with linens. Please contact Jordyn Hogan at 481-4180 for more information.
Ghosts, Goblins, and Garrets: The Legend of Sleepy Helmke
hollow-ceramic-skull.jpg Helmke Library and Sigma Tau Delta have partnered to offer a fun night of games and poetry readings. Have a spooktacular good time on Wednesday, October 29, from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Learning Commons (Helmke Library, second floor). Dress like your favorite literary character or author and enter the costume contest! All are invited to test their skills in games like Catan, Munchkin, Trivial Pursuit, and many more. You can bring your own games, too!
Community Harvest Turkey Rally
The Community Harvest Turkey Rally on November 6 is dedicated to the collection of frozen turkeys, hams, and non-perishable holiday food items for Community Harvest Food Bank. IPFW MBA students have committed to coordinating 100 volunteers for area drop sites (including IPFW's drop site) and establishing several corporate sponsorships to help pay for volunteer t-shirts. If you would like to lend a hand, or know someone who would, please follow this link to the volunteer sign-up page.
Find Inspiration at the Service-Learning Showcase
Plan to attend the Service-Learning Showcase in Walb Student Union, Room G21 this Friday, October 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Faculty and students will showcase service-learning projects that have been developed at IPFW, as well as the impact IPFW is having in northeast Indiana. This will be a great opportunity to find inspiration for new collaborations and projects. A representative of Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) will be present; ICC is IPFW's main source of service-learning grant funds, as well as conference opportunities. Light refreshments will be served.
