New Design for the IPFW Website
On April 19, Marketing and Creative Services (MCS) and IT Services launched a new design for the IPFW website. The design improves the user experience. It also reinforces the IPFW brand, focuses on content, clarifies navigation, and increases legibility.
A narrow project focus ensured success and quick delivery of the design. No extra staffing occurred. The team also avoided imposing major changes on the nearly 400 content contributors.

Student focus groups gave valuable feedback, and the administration approved the design. Publishers also previewed their content and provided testing and feedback. The team reviewed the design in major browsers and resolved most issues.

Please visit the site and report problems to the Help Desk by calling 481-6030 or emailing [email protected].

Future Direction for the IPFW Website

The new design lays the foundation for upcoming changes to the IPFW website. MCS is drafting a plan to address next steps. The plan will cover key issues such as mobile delivery, new functionality, and more engaging content. For more information, contact Barton Tyner by calling 481-6170 or emailing [email protected].

Changes to Overtime Policy Coming in 2015
ClockPurdue will modify its overtime policy, Wage Administration for Clerical/Service Staff and Operations/Technical Assistants (VI.C.2), effective Jan. 12, 2015. The changes bring Purdue in line with most public and private sector employers, including the state of Indiana and Purdue's peer universities, and act as a recurring cost-avoidance measure.

Under this policy change, nonexempt (paid biweekly) staff will be paid overtime for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in any single workweek. Paid and unpaid leave days (i.e. vacation, jury duty, sick leave, bereavement leave, etc.), with the exception of university recognized holidays, will not be counted to determine eligibility for overtime pay. Recognizing university holidays as time worked is beyond what the majority of universities provide; however, Purdue believes its inclusion is important.

An informational session will be held Friday, April 25, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Human Resources Training Room (KT G06). Questions may be directed to Kirk Tolliver, 481-6679, or Carolyn Ladd, 481-6680.

Changes to Retirement Provisions for Faculty and Staff
Purdue is implementing two changes to the university's retirement provisions: Status and Privileges of Retired Faculty and Staff; and Surviving Spouses/Domestic Partners and Surviving Children (VI.A.1):
  1. A change in the criteria that must be met to qualify as a Purdue University official retiree
  2. A change that relates to a benefit the university began several years ago to provide two months of subsidized health insurance coverage for faculty and staff as they transitioned to retirement

Speakers will include George McClellan, vice chancellor for student affairs and enrollment management; Eric Norman, dean of students; and Rachel Burkholder of Erin's House for Grieving Children. Senior music student Ryan Blauvelt, guitarist, will present a musical tribute. Kristina Stewart, a senior psychology student, was instrumental in the planning of this event.
