Fox and Smith Named Academic Advisors of the Year
Two IPFW academic advisors who "...engage in advising as teaching...helping students see the connections between their goals and our curriculum, versus strictly course scheduling..." are the 2014 IPFW Academic Advisors of the Year. Corrie Fox, from the Mastodon Advising Center (MAC), and Kari Smith, from the Doermer School of Business (DSB), received their award plaques during the annual academic advising luncheon on April 10.
Fox's nomination papers noted that she has been an academic advisor in the MAC for nearly seven years and in that time has counseled several hundred students each semester, many of whom are readmitted students.
Smith has been advising DSB students for nearly five years and gets high praise from both her nominators and the students she has advised. Read the story
Celebrate the End of Winter at Spring Fling

We've endured a seemingly never-ending winter---- now it's time to celebrate the arrival of spring! Indiana-- Purdue Student Government Association (IPSGA) is inviting the whole campus---- students, faculty, and staff---- to Spring Fling 2014, April 21-- 26.

The festivities revolve around the whimsical characters of Dr. Seuss, featuring green eggs and ham, live camels, a "Who feast," movies, and of course, daily food and freebies! Feel free to stop by, grab some food, and mingle with our students. If you'd like to volunteer at one of the events or activities, contact Audrey Donat, IPSGA vice president of student programming, 481-6590 or stuvpsp@ipfw.edu.  View schedule [PDF]

IPFW Athletics Update

Men's volleyball wrapped up the regular season last week, winning their last two home matches in convincing form. The Dons took care of business against Quincy last Friday, sweeping the match 3-- 0, and continued their winning ways Saturday against Lindenwood, 3-- 0. The Dons finished the regular season with an overall record of 20-- 6 and a home record of 13-- 2.

The No. 14 Dons take on Ohio State Saturday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in the first round of the MIVA Tournament at the Gates Athletics Center. This will be IPFW's first time hosting an MIVA Tournament match since 2007, and tickets for faculty and staff are only $5. Come out and support the Dons as they start their quest to win the MIVA tournament. Tickets can be purchased at the IPFW box office, online, or by calling 260-481-6555.
