Email Breach Compromises IPFW Data
An IPFW email account containing Social Security numbers and credit card information was recently compromised, resulting in data loss and potential exposure. IPFW will be notifying anyone affected by the incident. If you transmit or receive sensitive or restricted information such as SSN or credit card numbers as part of your standard business processes, please contact the IT Services security office at its_security_office@ipfw.edu to discuss your options for protecting IPFW data. Everyone at IPFW should be aware of Purdue's data classifications of public, sensitive, and restricted, as well as the corresponding handling guidelines.

Course Site Space Increases for Blackboard
Blackboard Learn As a result of a Blackboard course space audit last fall, there has been a change to the amount of space provided for each Blackboard course.
  • 500 MB of space is now available to each course. The previous quota was 300 MB
  • Student submissions are not included in this quota limit
  • Additional space over 500 MB can be provided if needed. Faculty can request an increase by sending a request to the IT Services help desk, helpdesk@ipfw.edu or 481-6030

Instructors and course builders are still encouraged to store media content outside of Blackboard in either the IPFW Media Vault or on the Echo 360 server. This provides a more reliable delivery of media to students. Contact the IT Services help desk for assistance at helpdesk@ipfw.edu or 481-6030.

Update to IPFW VPN Friday, March 21
An update will be made to IPFW VPN (connect2.ipfw.edu) Friday, March 21, at 7 a.m. Outages should be less than one minute. You do not need to log out, but you may lose connection and need to reconnect. No changes in functionality will occur as a result of this update.
