Apple has just released its latest operating system, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, as a free upgrade. Please do not upgrade university-managed machines to this operating system at this time----this is a major OS update that needs to be tested for compatibility with IPFW systems and the IPFW network before it is installed (an issue with how licensing works has already surfaced and will need to be resolved).IT Services is currently working to confirm compatibility and hopes to have this update available for the campus community soon.
If you have a university-managed Apple device and are interested in upgrading to OS X 10.9, please contact the Help Desk to notify IT Services of your interest and to have a work order opened. After testing is complete and compatibility is confirmed, IT Services will contact you to assist with the upgrade.
If you wish to upgrade your personally-owned Apple device to run OS X 10.9 Mavericks, please understand that, at this point, compatibility with the IPFW wireless network or with IPFW web-based systems such as myIPFW, GroupWise Web access, and Blackboard cannot be guaranteed.
If you have already installed this upgrade, please inform the Help Desk so a record can be made of your upgrade and IT Services can notify and assist you if anything comes up in testing.
