Resource Fair Highlights Black History Month Expo
The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs (ODMA) is a sponsor of the Black History Month Expo this Saturday, February 16, at the African/African-American Historical Museum, 436 East Douglas Ave. The Expo is one of many events celebrating Black History Month that is cosponsored by ODMA in conjunction with various campus and community partners. The Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee (CSSAC) will sponsor a book fair on the Kettler Hall Ground Floor, next to Subway. Books of all kinds will be available February 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

McLaughlin Selected for AACRAO Nominations and Elections Committee
Patrick McLaughlan The membership of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) has selected IPFW Registrar Patrick McLaughlin to serve on its 2013-14 Nominations and Elections Committee (N&E). AACRAO serves and advances higher education by providing leadership in academic and enrollment services. N&E is the only committee elected by the membership that reports directly to the membership.

featured faculty Every Wednesday in February students, faculty, staff, and the public are invited to meet the 2013 Featured Faculty and learn about their outstanding work. Today (February 13) Professor Abdullah Eroglu, associate professor of engineering, will present "Electromagnetic Devices and Applications." All lectures are on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the Walb Student Union, Room G-21. They are free and open to the public and a light lunch will be provided. Read the news release ...
Charlotte Perkins Gilman Exhibit in Helmke Library Learning Commons

In the late 19th century, medical and scientific experts drew on notions of female weakness to justify inequality between the sexes. Artist and writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman, who was discouraged from pursuing a career to preserve her health, rejected these ideas in a terrifying short story titled "The Yellow Wall-Paper." The Walter E. Helmke Library is hosting a traveling exhibit based on this classic of feminist literature and the "rest cure" February 11---March 23 on the 2nd floor Learning Commons.
Safe Zone Workshop Opportunities

Safe Zone was created to raise awareness and increase understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals in the IPFW community. The Safe Zone team will offer two workshop opportunities for IPFW faculty and staff this spring: Thursday, February 21 and 28 from 1 to 3 p.m.or Monday, March 18 and 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. Preregistration is required: contact Julie Creek at creekj@ipfw.edu or 481-4140.
Vote for IPFW in Summit League Food Fight

IPFW's Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) needs your help to win the Summit League Food Fight. Each school is collecting food for its local food bank and has produced a video that shows creativity, accurately portrays the life of a student-athlete, and promotes the Summit League and the Food Fight competition. The school's video that receives the most "likes" on YouTube will get the equivalent of an additional 2,002 pounds of food ($770) added to their Food Fight total. Third Annual Black Tie Gala
Black Tie Once a year the Hospitality Management Association holds a fundraising banquet where the planning, marketing, food preparation, and serving is done by the students under a chef's supervision. This year the banquet is being hosted in the downtown Courtyard by Marriott on Saturday, February 23. The gala will feature a silent auction and a chance to win a one-week at stay at Solymar Hotel in the Galapagos Islands. Read the details (PDF) ...
APSAC Auction: Save the Date
The annual Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Council (APSAC) auction raises money for the APSAC Dependent Scholarship and Professional Development Funds. This year's live auction has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, with the theme "Hawaii Five-O Style." You can donate new or gently used items; visit the APSAC website for details.

Hospitality Management Students Invite You to Experience "Moulin Rouge"
Moulin Rouge The Advanced Food Service Management (HTM 492) senior class invites you to experience "Moulin Rouge" this semester at the Mastodon Grill in the Holiday Inn at IPFW and the Coliseum. Special French-themed food and festivities will be offered every Tuesday night beginning February 19 from 5 to 10 p.m. (excluding March 12). For reservations, call the restaurant at 260-482-3800. IPFW students, staff, and faculty receive a 15 percent discount.
