Hello Anchorage resident,
It's been a busy time in my office and I felt that you should have an Anchorage Update. In fact, I'm starting a new page muni.org/AnchorageUpdate that will be a central location for video clips, press releases, this newsletter, an event calendar, pictures and contact information. Stay tuned, we'll be adding more to the page as the summer weeks go by.
My hope is that more residents become engaged in city issues. Please share this newsletter, like my Facebook page or watch my press conference videos like the one below for the direct source of municipal news.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Francisco J. Sánchez who serves as Under Secretary for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce at the 2013 Export Alaska Celebration Luncheon hosted by the World Trade Center of Alaska.
Sincerely,
Mayor Dan

Running in Anchorage
Are you ready to run? The 40th Annual Anchorage Mayor's Marathon will be held on Saturday, June 22nd. There are lots of options for you to choose from! Run the full marathon, relay marathon, half marathon, or four miler. Click here before heading out.
You may have noticed that the Parks and Recreation Department is working hard to improve our city's beloved Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. Unfortunately, that means different sections of the trail will be closed for surface rehabilitation throughout the summer. Stay up to date on trail closures by checking the Trail Closure Construction Schedule to register. |
Centennial/RFP Update
We are very busy planning special events to commemorate Anchorage's Centennial! Alaska Humanities Forum is now accepting proposals for three Anchorage Centennial Legacy Projects: Official Anchorage Centennial Commemorative Book, Official Anchorage Centennial Commemorative Documentary/Film, and Official Anchorage Centennial Online Archive/App. Proposals are due June 27. If interested, visit http://akhf.org
The Anchorage Centennial Committee is having an open meeting on Tuesday, July 2 at 1:00 pm in the Mayor's Conference Room on the 8th Floor of City Hall (632 West 6th Avenue). These open meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month. You will have an opportunity to briefly share your ideas or plans, so come prepared to give a 30-second update! More information can be found at AnchorageCentennial.org.
