Greetings!

How are you feeling? Are you like millions of others feeling stressed over the struggle to balance work and family? Do you feel overwhelmed by every day stressors like deadlines, billable hour ratios, children sports schedules, or guilt about not exercising or eating right?  How do you manage your stress? Do you turn to electronic distractions? Is the alluring glow of your TV urging you to lose yourself and your worries in a marathon binge of sitcoms or social media?

It doesn't really help you feel better - yet, millions of us do it every day.  Our stress levels are skyrocketing, and our mental, physical and emotional health are suffering.  Worse yet, our go-to sedentary style of stress relief can actually result in premature death! The solution?  It's simple.

Earth Day seems the perfect time to propose a "new" stress reliever to improve health, build person to person bonds, and it costs you absolutely nothing but time. While I am not a medical professional, I am confident a simple prescription of time spent in nature will help cure what ails you. That's why it is critical we put effort into creating sustainable built environments that protect and enhance our ability to connect to the natural world.

Don't believe me? Prove me wrong. I challenge you to pledge to spend 30 minutes a day for 30 consecutive days connecting to nature. Let yourself bask in the benefits of fresh air, calming natural sounds and the camaraderie of your friends and loved ones. Reduce your stress and enjoy the extra energy, focus and creativity. Most importantly, take the time for yourself.  Invest those 30 minutes in yourself and improve your health and well-being. Pledge to WGBA's 30x30 Nature Challenge today because YOU matter.

See you outside!
