September/2013
Greetings!

Another month has passed since we last spoke, and wonderful things continue to happen for WGBA. Our 10th Annual SE2 Conference is right around the corner, and we are happy to announce that the event offers up to 7 GBCI CEU hours and 5 AIA Learning Units for each attendee. For those of you facing a looming closure to your GBCI reporting period, the conference could be just that thing you need to obtain those final hours. If you are confused about the entire reporting process for GBCI, check out our new WGBA blog for an overview.

In other news, I am excited to report that we have two new faces in the office, and I can't wait for you to meet them at our Open House later this month. Our new hires, Heather Goetsch and Linda Frey Magnuson, bring us extensive nonprofit experience, entrepreneurial spirits, and a true passion for a more sustainable future. They are fantastic additions to our collaborative team that will lead WGBA through the transition to a full chapter of USGBC and into a prosperous 2014.

Warm regards,

Meet WGBA's New Staff
Linda Frey Magnuson, Chapter Coordinator
Linda is passionate about fostering social responsibility, sustainable practices and promoting ecological intelligence where ever it is needed to make the Earth a healthier place. She will work with WGBA stakeholders to build the power of the broad and deep intelligence of our network of members and national partnership. You can connect Linda with resources, projects, advocates, schools, or businesses that facilitate and promote green building practices in Wisconsin's build environment so that she can invite them into our community. Linda moved to Milwaukee just one year ago, so don't hesitate to help her discover Wisconsin by sharing your favorite places to hike, bike, sail, snowboard or cross-country ski. She'll be forever thankful!

Heather Goetsch, Program Manager
Heather has long been passionate about sustainability and improving our environmental impacts, making WGBA a perfect fit. She is excited to serve as the program manager. She will work with staff, volunteers, and the board to bolster WGBA's programming. Heather is responsible for planning and managing WGBA's programming, creating opportunities to partner with like-minded organizations, and managing volunteers. Contact Heather if you have ideas for future events or programming, or are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities. On the weekends, Heather plays board, console, and computer games; goes for walks or hikes in local parks; visits the farmer's market; and enjoys reading about upcoming trends and projects in sustainability.

The Open House will also be a great opportunity for you to see our newly installed office furniture and to meet representatives from Recycled Office Environments (ROE) of Stevens Point, WI.  ROE generously donated remanufactured Herman Miller furniture that includes environmentally friendly paint and recycled panel fabric with agri-board work surfaces. We are so grateful for ROE's support and we are proud to showcase this great Wisconsin company that diverts tons of steel a year, from the landfill. Thanks to Jeff Budelier, Jeff Dittl, and Dan Putz for all the time and effort they put into this beautiful installation.
