February, 2013
Dear Friends & Colleagues,
This is a special report on the recent changes to the LEED Credential Maintenance Program (CMP). In short, it will be easier to renew our credentials and to take exams, however, there are many new details to decipher. I hope this brief outline is helpful. I recommend you also visit GBCI's credential page for more information HERE:
Exam Changes: There are no longer any eligibility requirements to take the LEED GA exam, though it is recommended that the person taking it has experience in the field.
CMP Changes: CMP Approved Activities have been reduced from a requirement of 8 to 4. You can receive credit for the following:
Education
Volunteering (up to 50%)
Authorship
LEED Project Participation
Principles of LEED: Legacy LEED APs who earned certification before 2009 had been asked to retest or follow a prescriptive path to earn a specialty. The (free) Principles of LEED webinar series allows professionals to earn their specialties without retesting.
- LEED APs who did not opt in to a prescriptive path can use the series to opt in and meet prescriptive requirements.
- LEED APs who did opt in can use the series to complete their prescriptive requirements. They must complete the series by October 27, 2013.
- Everybody else can use the series as 6 free credit hours.
GBCI Categories: These have been eliminated, though those still on a prescriptive path will still have to indicate the category as they report. This goes away once they take the Principles of LEED series.
Stay tuned, |
