January, 2013
Dear Friends & Colleagues,
I have several great things to report to you. The first is that we want to invite you to join the WGBA volunteer community. Our dedicated Board has been working for the last two months on updating WGBA's volunteer toolkit, to make a volunteer process that is seamless and organized AND a great experience for you. We will be presenting this work to our volunteer community at our February 8th Leadership Retreat. I loved volunteering for WGBA. It gave me the opportunity to serve and provide education and experience for people within the green building and design network. We are offering you the same wonderful opportunity, in a well organized package with many choices. Here are the committees we need your help with:
Regional Leadership groups: These groups are located in the Southeast (Milwaukee), Southwest (Madison), Northeast (Fox Valley) and Northwest (Wausau). They plan events in their regions that reflect the work of the organizations and professionals in that region.
Advocacy: This is a new committee with two platforms in place. If you are interested in working to promote "Leading with LEED" or "Building Benchmarking" in Wisconsin, this is the committee for you.
Membership Committee: This committee is new and requires dedicated individuals who are excited about generating new membership for WGBA and working to get lapsed members back on board.
Marketing Committee: This committee is tasked with creating WGBA's marketing pieces for tradeshows, brochures and overall branding and publicity. If you have a flair for graphic design and marketing experience you will be an asset to this committee.
Green Schools: This well established committee can always use more help, especially with USGBC's Green Apple Day of Service. Members should be ready to start service projects in their local schools.
Emerging Professionals: This new committee is a USGBC initiative and works to bring new professionals into the Wisconsin green building network.
The retreat will be a chance for you to meet with your chosen committee and to get to know the WGBA Board, staff and volunteer community. If you are interested in becoming part of the WGBA volunteer network and would like to join us on February 8th, please see registration information here. In other news, I am excited to announce that USGBC is again coming to WI. They will be in Milwaukee, Madison and the Fox Valley on April 4th and 5th to give a three hour technical update on LEED v. 4. Stay tuned for times and locations.
More to come,
