Shay Carney Update
An Award-Winning Recovery

Shay Carney

Last year, Shay Carney, the son of IRMG's Robert and Stephanie Carney, suffered a severe snowboarding accident that left him with Traumatic Brain Injury. The accident affected Shay's short-term memory and reading retention, which, combined with an intensive physical therapy schedule, forced Shay to withdraw from school to focus on his recovery.

We are extremely pleased to announce that Shay has made a remarkable recovery and was able to return to school this year. Shay's recovery has been nothing short of miraculous. In the face of such struggle, he has maintained a positive attitude and fierce determination, which combined with the love and support of his family, friends, community and all of you, have seen him through this difficult time.

Shay was recently honored by the local Chamber of Commerce with the Young Citizens Award, given to recognize individuals under the age of 20 for their commitment to their communities, for acts of courage and extraordinary character, for unusual service for people in need, and for unique personal achievements.

We thank each of you for your thoughts, prayers and kind words over the last year.
