LONDON RALLY FOR HEROES GOES INTERNATIONAL

With the provisional entry list for London Rally for Heroes already at more than 60, the event has attracted its first international entries, with a Belgian team created specifically to contest this new event in the South of England.

Sam Warnez / Jermie Ghillemyn (Peugeot 106) and Rik Vannieuwenhuyse / Kurt Declerck (Ford Escort RS2000 Mk2) make up the Seyntex-Pelsmaekers Rally Team. At home in Belgium, the company is a supplier to the Ministry of Defence, and the crew members are delighted to be coming to contest and support the rally.

Vannieuwenhuyse said: "The Rally is a fantastic idea, a really good way to raise money for heroes we all know, while we take part in a sport we all love. The Seyntex-Pelsmaekers Rally Team with myself and Sam are really looking forward to coming over next month."

With entries now at more than 60, the addition of this duo is proof indeed of the event's reach, something not lost on Rally Director Rick Smith: "Delighted is all I can say, to be honest. For an event that has never been run before to receive these two quality entries from Belgium proves how well known this little adventure of ours has become. As we all know, the idea is to raise money for Help for Heroes - guys like Rik and Sam will help us even further."

Interest in this inaugural event is high, with entries still coming in, the website updated on a daily basis and social media helping to raise the profile of the event. The London Rally Help 4 Heroes has already been discussed by the World Rally Championship via their twitter account, with support from some very well-known names in the world of WRC, the latest round having taken place place in Mexico this weekend. Truly, the London Rally for Heroes is now an internationally known event.

Multimedia Manager Anthony Concannon reports that activity on both Facebook and Twitter is encouraging: "It is amazing the awareness there is for the rally, and just how many people want to talk about it and support it. It's almost like the whole thing, the rally, the media side, the local interest, the forums mean it is just going to be one huge event, with a rally thrown in. . . and for here in the South East, that is massive news."

The team behind the event, the Southern Car Club, is working hard behind the scenes to ensure that the event delivers in all areas, when next month the sound of rally cars will echo around the famous Brooklands Museum in Surrey.

With the countdown to the event well and truly underway, Clerk of the Course Rob Pike said: "There is a real buzz about the area now, with the rally getting closer, and the interest in it is superb. That we can bring top-class motorsport to the South East of England and raise the kind of money for the Help for Heroes that our competitors and supporters are able to do, is really gratifying and proves the reason for creating this event was correct."
