Oxford Physical Therapy Centers News

Greetings!

Hello from Oxford Physical Therapy Centers!

This month's newsletter features the staff at our Mason Center.  The Mason Center is located at 7567 Central Parke Blvd., Mason, OH 45040.

We have many great partners we work with throughout the year and we want to highlight some of these partners in 2013. Our first partner we want to bring your attention to is Fleet Feet Cincinnati!  We have been working with Fleet Feet Cincinnati for over 10 years.  Read below for more information about Fleet Feet Cincinnati, including tips on how to properly layer your clothes when exercising in the cold weather.

2013 marks the 20th anniversary of Oxford Physical Therapy Centers.  All of the staff from OPTC put together a thank you video for the owners, Ken and Pete.  Look below to watch the video!

As a reminder, in the state of Ohio and Kentucky, you may go to physical therapy without a doctors prescription, and we can still bill through your insurance.  Call us at 513.701.6100 with any questions.

Fleet Feet Sports offers yoga, good form running clinics and trigger point therapy clinics.

Fleet Feet is one of our partners that we work with to offer free injury screenings to their customers.  "This is one of my favorite offerings to our community each month.  Two Blue Ash businesses coming together to offer a free service focused on getting people healthy and back on their feet.  I think that is incredible and am very proud to be a part of it." - said Frank DeJulius, Owner, about the monthly injury screens at Fleet Feet.  The next injury screenings at Fleet Feet will be on Saturday, February 23 at 9am-11am and Thursday, Februray 28 at 6pm-8pm.

Frank DeJulius, Owner of Fleet Feet, provided the following information about proper layering when exercising outside in the cold weather.

At Fleet Feet Sports we believe in being active all 12 months of the year.  And sometimes this means paying close attention to the weather outside and layering correctly.  One of the biggest mistakes some people make during the cold months is overdressing.  No matter how cold it is outside 3 proper layers is all you need.

First, start with a non-cotton base layer that fits tight to the body like a second skin.  This will help pull sweat moisture away from the body to keep you dry. The next layer is also made of technical fabric and is called a warmth layer.  This layer is the most versatile of the 3 and will help keep body heat in, but also breath to let moisture and excess heat out.  Micro-fleece and soft merino wool are two of our favorite warmth layer materials.  On the coldest, wettest, windiest days you will want to wear an outer layer.  This layer is furthest from the skin and is designed to protect you from the elements, like wind, rain and snow.  This layer is usually made of a synthetic soft-shell material or nylon and even though they are wind and water proof they are breathable by the way of construction.

We spend much of our time educating our customers on proper layering during the winter months.  In fact, proper laying can even help you stay cool in the summer!  For more information or questions on how to layer your clothing, please feel free to contact us.
