"My rehab experiences at Oxford were great. They taught me how to walk again (twice!). My therapist was awesome; very patient, answered every single question, knowledgeable, and a good listener. I'm fully recovered and more fit than I've ever been. Oxford changed my life. Thank you!"

The M.O.G. combines rehabilitation services with a clinical exercise program for the medically compromised patient, as well as the healthy motivated population. Its vision is to deliver a culture of fitness that is safe, non-intimidating, and based on client outcomes and will become a valuable part in the patient's life. The M.O.G. is a client based facility which is open Monday through Thursday 7am to 7pm, Friday 7am to 4pm, and Saturday 8am to 12pm. Please see below about our holidays hours.
Good M.O.G. candidates include:

- Diabetics
- Hypertensive
- Cancer patients
- First time exerciser
- Pre/post pregnancy
- Healthy motivated population
- Anyone wanting a lifestyle change!
Once you join the M.O.G., you will meet with Kelly Smerekanich, our exercise physiologist. Kelly received her undergraduate degree from Ohio Northern University, where she played on the volleyball team. She is excited about joining our Montgomery Center staff and said the following about working with clients at the M.O.G.:
"As an Exercise Physiologist I enjoy helping clients reach their goals with health and fitness. It is important to me to improve clients' everyday activities by creating a path that contains education, accountability, and fun. I take a holistic approach to health in guiding clients to change not only their exercise routine, but also their lifestyle. I hope that at the end of the day my clients feel 110% better and truly make a lifestyle change that improves their quality of life."
After you meet with Kelly, she will determine an overall M.O.G. fitness score by measuring your readiness to change, BMI, percentage of body fat, waist circumference, and aerobic activity. From the results of your M.O.G. fitness score, an appropriate exercise program is designed to meet your short and long term goals. Kelly will work with you on a one-on-one basis during your exercise program. You will be re-evaluated every 90 days and your fitness score will be analyzed against your attendance record with the M.O.G.
Why would you want to join the M.O.G. instead of a traditional gym?
- Safe, non-intimidating atmosphere
- Exercise program coordinated by Physical Therapist and Exercise Physiologist
- Routine communication with your doctor about your progress
- Physical therapy services on-site

Staying Healthy Over the Holidays
| |
With all of the festivities throughout the holiday season it can be difficult to stay on track with your diet and exercise, but there are certain things you can do to enjoy yourself without packing on the pounds. Here are a few tips you can try to help you out:
- Balance your meals
- Instead of filling your plate with only high calorie foods, have a few of your favorites, but make sure you include a lot of fruits and vegetables too! You can still enjoy your usual holiday foods, but are still getting a lot of healthful nutrients as well.
- Limit sugary foods
- Foods high in added sugar can cause you to crave even more sugary foods. Instead, to satisfy your sweet tooth, try having a piece of fruit or dark chocolate. If you just can't resist that piece of pie, only take half a serving!
- Stock up on healthy snacks
- Choose a variety of healthy snacking items when shopping so you can have quick easy snacks on hand when you feel tempted by all of those leftovers. Easy snacking items can include, celery, carrots, and apples.
- Manage your alcohol intake
- Be careful not to overindulge when drinking alcoholic beverages. Remember, a 12-oz. bottle of beer contains about 150 calories and 4-oz. of wine has approximately 100 calories. Try to choose a lower-calorie beer or wine to help manage your calorie intake.
- Keep moving!
- Don't forget about your daily exercise during the holiday season. Not only will exercise help you keep off the pounds, it can also help you manage stress that is associated with family get-togethers and holiday planning.
