Second Saturday Community CoffeeHouse

Stephy Pierce opens for Seth Hoffman

The Second Saturday Community CoffeeHouse offers up another great night of family entertainment this month with Albuquerque Singer/Songwriter Seth Hoffman.  Stephy Pierce will open up the evening with her original rock and alternative tunes.

Seth Hoffman, recently returned from a national tour, will take the stage with his eclectic style, humor and charm, coupled with his natural talent.  Seth has been writing and performing music for more than 17 years. As a college student in Madison, WI, Seth played the local coffee house and folk scene. When he was 21, he backpacked around Europe and was a street musician in Amsterdam, Prague, London, Paris, Venice and Barcelona.

After moving to Albuquerque in 2002, Seth performed at local coffee shops, bars and festivals as part of the duo, Seth and Jacob.  In 2008, Seth spent a year in Chile, performing music and teaching English. Since his return to Albuquerque, Seth has been an elementary school teacher during the week and a musician in the evenings and on the weekends.

Seth is a storyteller in between songs as well as during the songs. His music is inspired by his own personal experience, nature, travel, conversations and dreams. He has written about 300 songs and plays more than a dozen instruments, including the guitar, mandolin, ukelele, banjo, strumstick, and harmonica.  He has released 7 CDs: Four in the Morning, Days Go By, Set Yourself Free, We're All On the Same Side, Strumtimes - I Feel Happy, Be Kind to Others, and Have a Good Time.

Stephy Pierce is a local New Mexican rock/alternative musician. She is currently working on a full length album after releasing an EP earlier this year. Her music is heartfelt and diverse. A fan described her music as: "It's not just music that sounds good. It means something." The musician loves what she does and she will show it!

FREE!  Love Offerings will be accepted.

The mission of the Second Saturday Community CoffeeHouse is to provide the East Mountains with quality musical experiences in a family-style, listening-room environment.  The events, along with snacks and beverages, are family friendly and free to the public.  The House opens at 6 pm and the performance starts promptly
at 6:30.

Held the second Saturday of each month, the events consist of an Opening Act and a Headliner except for two Open Mics per year.  The CoffeeHouse hosts both professional and amateur musicians and performers of all ages.  The response has been so positive that the event is already booked through 2016.

The CoffeeHouse is held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation (formerly the Unity Spiritual Center) at 1 Deanna Lane in Edgewood.  It is located just off Dinkle Road, 1.5 miles east of Mountain Valley Road, and 2.5 miles west of Highway 344.

Call for Opening Acts and 2017 Headliners

We are booked through 2016 with headliners, but we need Opening Acts!  If you or someone you know is interested, please email CoffeeHouse@UnityEMtns.org with the info.  We don't pay our Openers, but we do feed them a home-cooked meal and we've been known to invite Openers to come back as Headliners.  We'd also love to feature some young up-and-coming musicians, so if you know any talented kids, send them our way!  More information can be found  on the musician page of our website.

We are also starting to book 2017 with our headliners.  So if you know anyone who would be a good fit for our venue, please send them to our website to check us out.  Thank you so much!
Many Thanks to Our Volunteers and Sponsors!

The Second Saturday Community CoffeeHouse is run completely by volunteers and donations.  Many thanks to Fancy's Photo Solutions, Patricia Vansell, Stargate Healing, The New Mexico Music Awards and Bill Moffatt  for sponsoring our first seven concerts this year!  Since we are a 501c3 organization, all donations are tax  deductible!  We are still looking for sponsors for the rest of the year!  Also, many thanks to Bill Moffatt for volunteering to MC again! We so appreciate it!

Thanks to all our volunteers!  We couldn't do this without you!

We are grateful and we still need more help with various aspects of running the CoffeeHouse.  Some ways to help:
  • Hang posters in East Mountain areas ~1-2 weeks before concert
  • Like to be on stage?  Be an MC!  We provide a script and you add character
  • Like to run sound equipment?  Assist our Sound Man/Host and cover when he can't make it
  • Help with Setup and/or Tear Down
  • Purchase or Make Snacks for event
  • Help work in the kitchen during the event
  • Purchase or make dinner and deliver for musicians and volunteers (you, too)
  • Sponsor a night for $25 - any individual, family, or business can do this (and businesses can promote their stuff and be featured on our web page)
We feed all volunteers (and their families) dinner on concert night (with the exception of Open Mic nights).

So the next time that clipboard is passed around, please consider how you would help.  Thank you.
