The Buckarettes have opened for Asleep at the Wheel, Wynonna Judd and English Beat. They have shared the stage with regional giants Bill & Bonnie Hearne, Michael Hearne & South by Southwest, Syd Masters & the Swingriders, Sid Hausman and international favorites like Chuck Pyle, Hot Club of Cowtown, Michael Martin Murphy and Belinda Gail.

They have released 3 CDs, their most recent award winning CD, "Cowgirl Serenade" was released in 2008 and reached #1 in popularity in the Album Category of Western Music & Swing Magazine, a nationally syndicated publication, and won Best Country CD for the year 2009 at the New Mexico Music Awards. Their self-titled CD "The Buckarettes" won them the 2002 New Mexico Industry Award for Best Vocal Performance and received a nomination for Album of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists in 2004. They also have a Christmas album under their belt called "Snow Angels" which was featured in 2007 Best of Albuquerque Magazine.

The award winning team Anne-Marie Lax and Robyn Mackenzie, who have recently returned from the Empower PosiFest 2016  in Tampa, Florida where they were presented with the award for best video of 2015 for their co-written song "Choose Love", will open up the evening.

Anne-Marie Lax is a local singer/songwriter who has just released her first album, "Dancing in the Light". The album, produced by Katie Gill, contains 12 songs that have been described as "positive, inspirational, and spiritual" with various genres including blues, jazz, ballads and rock. The songs themselves cover topics such as believing in yourself no matter what your age or what others say (Never Too Late, Rise Up and These Wings) to choosing Love over Fear (Choose Love and Nothing to be Blue About Blues

Robyn Mackenzie began playing the violin at age 4, eventually expanding her repertoire to piano, guitar, mandolin and most recently ukulele.  As a songwriter Robyn is quite prolific, attributing much of her motivation and inspiration to her six years' participation in February Album Writing Month, a thriving online songwriting community at FAWM.org.

Robyn has performed with Gary Reynolds and The Southwest Wind.  She has opened for Daniel Nahmod as well as Jason & deMarco, and she sometimes performs with her dad in The Philanthropic Cannibals.  Robyn released her first album, "Of Dreams and Dust" in 2010, and she was asked to perform her song, "Love, Love, Love" at the first Coffee Party Convention in Louisville, KY that same year.

FREE!  Love Offerings will be accepted.

The mission of the Second Saturday Community CoffeeHouse is to provide the East Mountains with quality musical experiences in a family-style, listening-room environment.  The events, along with snacks and beverages, are family friendly and free to the public.  The House opens at 6 pm and the performance starts promptly
at 6:30.

Held the second Saturday of each month, the events consist of an Opening Act and a Headliner except for two Open Mics per year.  The CoffeeHouse hosts both professional and amateur musicians and performers of all ages.  The response has been so positive that the event is already booked through 2016.

Each month's event is sponsored by a local business, family, or individual.  This month the event has two sponsors - East Mountain Resident Bob Moffat and the New Mexico Music Awards.  A sponsorship is $25 and is a tax-deductible donation.

The CoffeeHouse is held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation (formerly the Unity Spiritual Center) at 1 Deanna Lane in Edgewood.  It is located just off Dinkle Road, 1.5 miles east of Mountain Valley Road, and 2.5 miles west of Highway 344.

Call for Opening Acts

We are booked through 2016 with headliners, but we need Opening Acts!  If you or someone you know is interested, please email CoffeeHouse@UnityEMtns.org with the info.  We don't pay our Openers, but we do feed them a home-cooked meal and we've been known to invite Openers to come back as Headliners.  We'd also love to feature some young up-and-coming musicians, so if you know any talented kids, send them our way!  More information can be found  on the musician page of our website.

Many Thanks to Our Volunteers and Sponsors!

The Second Saturday Community CoffeeHouse is run completely by volunteers and donations.  Many thanks to Fancy's Photo Solutions, Patricia Vansell, Stargate Healing and The New Mexico Music Awards for sponsoring our first six concerts this year!  Since we are a 501c3 organization, all donations are tax  deductible!

Thanks to all our volunteers!  We couldn't do this without you!

We are grateful and we still need more help with various aspects of running the CoffeeHouse.  Some ways to help:
  • Hang posters in East Mountain areas ~1-2 weeks before concert
  • Like to be on stage?  Be an MC!  We provide a script and you add character
  • Like to run sound equipment?  Assist our Soundman/Host and cover when he can't make it
  • Help with Setup and/or Tear Down
  • Purchase or Make Snacks for event
  • Help work in the kitchen during the event
  • Purchase or make dinner and deliver for musicians and volunteers (you, too)
  • Sponsor a night for $25 - any individual, family, or business can do this (and businesses can promote their stuff and be featured on our web page)
We feed all volunteers (and their families) dinner on concert night.

So the next time that clipboard is passed around, please consider how you would help.  Thank you.
