Executive Update

Update from our President, Adam Chatburn

CAMRA BC - Vancouver Chapter have partnered with Vancouver Farmers Markets to use their Vancouver Farmers Market community tables at 5 markets this summer. We've already done Kitsilano and the West End with Main Street (July 10th), Trout Lake (July 13th) and Kerrisdale (August 10th) still to come. Thanks to everyone who has come  to see us and especially those who joined up or signed our letter to the government! It's been really good talking to people about all of the things that we do at CAMRA BC; our education programme, events, newsletters, pub-crawls, brewery visits and advocacy work.

One thing that we did talk about was the fact that no craft beer (or any alcohol) can be sold or sampled at a Farmers Market. All the people we spoke to knew it was illegal but didn't know why...

Update from our Education Liaison, Danny Seeton
CAMRA Education

The coming series of courses at Steamworks Brewpub will begin to showcase guest lecturers harvested from our local beer community. First up is Adam Henderson of Copper & Theory beer importers, who will be speaking about Belgian and French Ales. As an award winning home brewer and a Certified BJCP beer judge, he knows a thing or two about beer. Being in the position of importing some of the finest farmhouse (and other) beers he is uniquely suited to spread some knowledge.

Belgian/French Ales - June 25, 2013

Welcome to the exciting realm of Belgian and French Ales. From the mountains of Wallonia to the Flemish Lowlands comes a diverse selection of farmhouse beer styles, which are vaguely defined by Belgians and beer nerds alike. This exploration of imported examples and local reproductions will surely open your eyes to some of the most idiosyncratic beer styles out there. Tickets are on sale here.

Cask Nights
Missing our Cask Nights listed in the Newsletter? Not to worry; we have something even better! On our website in the Events calendar we have the various regular cask night locations and times listed and will be adding special one offs regularly too. Then, to find out what the actual cask is (which is what we post on Twitter and Facebook on the day of) you can simply refer to the Twitter Feed on the right side bar of our web page. You might have to look for a few seconds to see the location you're interested in come up in the rotation. We generally tweet mid morning what the cask(s) will be for the evening. We hope that this is a good solution and will no longer have reason to miss another event again. So make sure you have the Events Calendar bookmarked and view it regularly to help you plan which cask night and event you would like to attend. Click HERE to view the Events Calendar

If you would like your Cask information promoted on our website, Facebook and Twitter please email Mike.
