Hello Everyone,
Some big news this past week was Vancouver Craft Beer Week events being announced and tickets going on sale. They have Signature events, Walk Up events and more to come. Your best bet is to follow them for regular updates.
While we're on the subject of VCBW I have a message from the organizers. "Vancouver Craft Beer Week Needs You!
VCBW is swiftly approaching and we need your help! This year we have volunteer opportunities available on May 31st, our Opening Night Gala at the Roundhouse, as well as June 7th and 8th, at the VCBW Beer Festival at the River Rock Casino Resort. All three days will have 2 shifts available, early and late (times will vary depending on the day). Serving It Right is not mandatory, but is preferred where possible. Please email: volunteers@vancouvercraftbeerweek.com if you're interested and we'll send you some more details - thanks all! VCBW wouldn't be possible without you. Cheers, The team at VCBW"
Other big and exciting news this past week was Unanimous Support From City Council.
"Today (April 25) the movement to allow beer lounges in Vancouver took a big step forward thanks to a motion tabled by NPA Clr George Affleck which formalized the fact that the city zoning and licensing offices are working on a way to allow Beer Lounges in Vancouver." Our own President Adam Chatburn went to City Hall and attended the committee session and voiced his support for Affleck's motion. Business in Vancouver posted this article yesterday. It's not a done deal yet folks however, we're optimistic and will more know in the next 1 - 2 months.
Next week, May 10th Phillips Brewing Company is hosting the Canadian Craft Beer Collaboration brew with Brewers coming from across Canada to participate. "It's the first national beer collaboration and 25 breweries stretching from coast to coast, and incorporating over 6 different provinces, are using the annual Awards event to brew a special Canadian Collaboration beer for a cause. It's a project that reflects the uniqueness of the craft beer industry, where competition continues to be underpinned by a sense of collective community and a passion for creativity." Full details.

Bridge Brewing has organized their first annual North Shore 10k Growler Run Sat May 11th @ 9am. $20 entry and funds raised go to The Harvest Project. Beat the Brewer for prizes. Rumour has it there will be beer at the finish line!?! Contact the brewery for details and to enter.
Craft Beer Around the Web
You must have a look at this group. They are fundraising to build a brewery by getting community involved with incentives and donations from sponsors going back to the community when goals are reached. Their kickstarter page is Building a Fermentorium.
I spotted this video on a fellow craft beer lover's Facebook page this week and it's one of the funniest things I've seen in ages. SH!T Beer Geeks Say.
Quirky Beer Words
Just watch the video above. Really.

CAMRA Corporate Supporter Spotlight
Please join us in welcoming our newest Corporate Supporters!
The Portside Pub
7 Alexander Street, Vancouver
Historically fashioned, The Portside Pub highlights the craft beer institution. A palatable flow of liquid gold fuels the three levels of its rustic wood and metal body. There are 24 craft beers from near and far that flow through the 48 taps, and with two casks engines, we are more than set to quench the thirst of even the most serious connoisseur. Its East Coast air levels the charismatic space with sociable equity, any and all are welcomed to gather. Gaining major attention with previous international acts, The Portside Pub is highly reputable as a well groomed live music venue. Ears prickle at future line up announcements sure to be kept close at hand.
The Portside Pub is a comfortable, affordable and irresistible destination. - Aja Tylor

Cask NightsMissing our Cask Nights listed in the Newsletter? Not to worry; we have something even better! On our website in the Events calendar we have the various regular cask night locations and times listed and will be adding special one offs regularly too. Then, to find out what the actual cask is (which is what we post on Twitter and Facebook on the day of) you can simply refer to the Twitter Feed on the right side bar of our web page. You might have to look for a few seconds to see the location you're interested in come up in the rotation. We generally tweet mid morning what the cask(s) will be for the evening. We hope that this is a good solution and will no longer have reason to miss another event again. So make sure you have the Events Calendar bookmarked and view it regularly to help you plan which cask night and event you would like to attend. Click HERE to view the Events Calendar
