WELCOME TO OUR NEW BOARD MEMBER, LIZZIE HAMPTON
Lizzie has the distinct honor of being both a new Board member and a graduate of Rainbow Village. She is immensely capable of representing the diverse interests of homeless families and has been tireless in her volunteer work as a graduate. Lizzie is also a member of Victory World Church, and recently shared the following with us after discovering that her church gave $50,000 to Rainbow Village.
"My name is Lizzie Hampton. I am a graduate of Rainbow Village. I am presently on the Board of Directors. I attend Victory World Church. My experience at Victory World Church has been a pleasant one. In the month of December, they announced that they would be taking an offering for two organizations that needed help financially. I was waiting with anticipation to see who they would announce. With amazement, they announced one of the organizations was Rainbow Village. I cannot explain the joy and excitement I felt in realizing that I am attending a church that is committed to the lives of women and children and to know I am a former resident. It was like my life was coming full circle and that I was in the right place. Knowing that Victory World Church goes out of their way to support Rainbow Village was priceless to see and experience. I was able to share my story with someone that sat beside me and it motivated her to want to start volunteering. You never know where you will end up in life. And for that, I am grateful to be a part of Rainbow Village. Coming from a broken marriage and lost childhood, I realize that all things work together for good to those that love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. I now know my purpose is to help Rainbow Village in helping families who are in need."

RAINBOW VILLAGE SUPPORTERS HONORED WITH GWINNETT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARDS
The Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce's 65th Annual Dinner was held February 1 and several supporters of Rainbow Village were among the honorees.
Public Service Awards are given to individuals who, over the years, have gone above and beyond in their service to the community and its residents. This year's honorees included: Judge Stephen Franzen, Gwinnett County Juvenile Courts; Mayor Nancy Harris, City of Duluth; Paige Havens; Joe McCart, The McCart Group; David McCleskey, Gwinnett County Public Schools; and Dr. Mary Kay Murphy, Gwinnett County Public School Board.
Judge Stephen Franzen has been involved with Rainbow Village since its inception in 1991. As a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where Rainbow Village began, he worked with Johnny Lawler and the city of Norcross to secure the leased properties from Georgia Power. Steve also wrote the letters of incorporation and was helpful in securing the 501(c)3 status for Rainbow Village in 1995. Most recently, as a member and past President of the Duluth Rotary Club, Steve engaged its members to support the children and youth of Rainbow Village by providing funding to send them to day camp for the summer months and to provide care during winter and spring break as necessary.
Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris serves as the Vice Chair of the Rainbow Village Board of Directors and has been tireless in her support for the program. She is an active member of the Community Relations Task Force and the Speaker's Bureau and became involved with Rainbow Village families while serving as Principal of B.B. Harris Elementary School.
Barbara Howard, Rainbow Village Capital Campaign Leadership Team Chairman, was honored as the Citizen of the Year at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner. The award honors individuals who have had the greatest impact on the overall quality of life for Gwinnett County in recent years. In addition to the enormous impact she has made at Rainbow Village, her philanthropic efforts also extend to the Boys and Girls Club of America, Habitat for Humanity, the Hudgens Center for the Arts, the Aurora Theater, the American Cancer Society, and Gwinnett Medical Center. She is also a supporter of the Duluth Fall Festival.
Joe McCart has invested financially in the Rainbow Village capital campaign, "Building Strong Communities One Family At A Time," and
Paige Havens has been a longtime volunteer and friend of the program as well. Paige and her family have supported Rainbow Village as volunteers, investors, and through Paige's marketing expertise.
Rainbow Village appreciates the community support we receive and the outstanding service and support of these honorees.

This will be followed by meetings with the Rainbow Village Financial Program Director to plan the best use of any tax refunds to combat barriers to housing and to increase savings.
Two residents in the past 90 days have transitioned from the food stamp program and are now financially able to provide for their families without assistance for food.

RAINBOW VILLAGE WELCOMES NEW SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATOR, DAVE MILLER
We are thrilled that Dave Miller will be facilitating our weekly support group sessions with Rainbow Village adult residents. Dave comments, "I'm married and have 4 grown children, and although I've been working as an engineer for 30 years, starting in my mid 30's I felt a calling to serve others. This led to a Masters in Theological Studies from Emory University, several years volunteering in Pastoral Care and teaching ministries with Atlanta Union Mission, and then a Master's in Community Counseling from Argosy University. I have experience working with clients who have addiction, anger, codependency, grief, anxiety, trauma, and depression symptoms in one on one and group settings. Currently I am licensed as an Associate Professional Counselor with the state of Georgia, and I'm very happy to be working with Rainbow Village."
